Seminar at the Edersee *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel itself was privileged by the location in the castle Waldeck. Therefore the atmosphere was quite attractive. We traveled as a group to the seminar (12 persons), and were except for 2 other guests the only visitors. Admitted: the management couldn't do anything. We had however the impression that for this reason only the B - team was starting, the service in the seminar area was as well middle.
When the elevator was in the main building, occupied with only 11 persons, slid a half floor down and was emergency-braked, we were told, it happened frequently - no word of apology, nor even an inquiry about our well being.
Location
The castle was located highly over the Edersee. That was beautiful, it was still and the view on the lake was relaxing.
The journey was somewhat tedious, but for that one was however plentifully rewarded, Kellerwald and Edersee had a lot to offer.
On the first day we had difficulties arriving to the seminar area at the restaurant. Employees, which one could have asked, were not around. The doors, through which we would have had to go, were locked -
The service at meals was average,
the bills (EN) were intransparent and partially wrong.
Gastronomy
We really had to ask ourselves whether the trainees had been left on their own. On the first day: steamed pike (white) with rice (white) and salsify (I'm sure you can guess...)
On the second day we thought you couldn't go wrong with rump steak. Obviously the idea of asking us how we'd like our meat done (rare, medium, well done) just didn't occur to them. For this reason there was an uncomfortable meeting of those who hate raw meat and a rump steak that had barely even made its acquaintance with the pan.
The drinks prices were really high - practically the same with Frankfurt's town centre. (alc. free beer 0.3 l = 3,90 Euro)
Sport & Entertainment Unused
Room
Rooms were beautiful, well equipped and in each regard recommendable. Everything was there, which belongs in a good hotel room, and as a bathroom fan I must particularly praise the bathroom design .
Since the hotel was still quite new, the room furniture was new as well.
Tips and recommendations
The price-performance ratio seemed at most mediocre to me for the location in North Hesse. The prices for the drinks were unbelievably high, the rest might have been okay.
