Hotel Sheraton Algarve

The beach is extremely crowded. Which is why we didn't want to sunbathe or swim there, as all the loungers are not even half a metre apart... Even a walk along the beach looks more like a busy shopping street. In addition there are travelling hawkers who want to sell you something.I can only make limited assessments about the excursions. But the surrounding villages also only consist of hotel complexes and tourist bars. Unfortunately, we have found nothing, not even a restaurant, where we were not just among English and Germans...

DEFINITELY TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE BILL UPON CHECK-OUT! On our bill we had two visits to the restaurant with a cost of 150.00€ which were not ours. On demand the amounts were taken off our bill without any questions and the receipts were removed from our folder at reception. But it was not professional by any means!The way our problem with the construction site was treated from the beginning, was not what we are used to from a 5 star hotel either.Staff at breakfast seemed overwhelmed and not just once were we told that there was no room outside for two people and when you turned around the corner, several tables were available! After enquiring whether it was alright to sit there, the answer was: "Oh, yes Ma'am".Didn't make a very organised or endeavoured impression!!!

Breakfast is an outrage for a 5 star hotel! Breakfast is actually being served until 10:30 am according to the hotel. But from 10 am onwards the buffet is only being refilled sporadically. The selection is ok, but the quality lousy! The cold meat and cheese selection is mostly reduced to a salami and ham (cheap formed ham) and it didn't look much better for the cheese either. The juices were not freshly squeezed, the crepes were cold and tasted like nothing, on principle. The choice of bread, the packaged jam and the omelette were the best! There was fresh fruit, but apples, for example, had always gone out...After we had booked only booked B&B, we skipped the buffet dinner at the same restaurant (price p.p. 45€, without drinks].

The 5 pools are beautifully located, but were generally overcrowded with small children. Again, here it was difficult to swim in peace for a while without there being rubber animals swimming next to you or children jumping into the pool.The golf course is TOP: Nicely situated, super clean and simply beautiful!

The room was clean and nice, but offered no luxury. - The insulation in the room was more than poor, which means that room was extremely badly soundproofed and talks in the neighbouring rooms as well as noise from the hallways were very annoying. For me personally, an impossibility that I pay so much money and then can't even get some peace and quiet in my room!!!- Especially in the morning, when the first guests are on their way to the pool, you were woken up by screaming children. - The air conditioning was also quite noisy and could not therefore not be used at night.- For some inexplicable reason the bathroom often smelled of cigarette smoke, which was probably caused by a faulty ventilation.

Due to various facts we can NOT RECOMMEND this hotel, especially not if you're looking for a few days of peace and quiet.If you do book here, it is best to book B&B. In the evening we went to a barbecue restaurant at the hotel twice, where the prices were indeed a bit steep, but it is fair to say that the service and the quality were top!
