Super hotel with a dream beach *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel had about 500 rooms and in the main building nearly every hotel had an ocean view.
The area was always well kept. Even when we came back in the night from partying the floor from the beach to the hotel was still beeing cleaned. I have seldomly experienced that. The room was also very big. There were 4 of us in a room. I had really booked a bungalow but sadly none of them were free anymore. So the hotel offered us a better room in the main building. And it was really good. 2 huge bedrooms, 1 bathroom and also another toilet with sink. This room would have cost 45 per person/per night more if we had booked it beforehand.
Food was really super. If you complained here you were really wrong.
The only thing that disturbed me was the waiter who brought us orange juice every day, who wanted to press Oriental Night on us. Apparently he didn't understand a no... But the other waiters in the restaurant respectively on the “terrace” were always super… If we wanted to sit on the terrace in the evening and there really wasn't anything free anymore a waiter built us a table together out of a few chairs. Really great... A little tip: If you go to dinner in the evening you should stand at the restaurant before 7 p.m., otherwise it could happen that you had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes.
Location
The location of the hotel was very appealing to us. It was located directly by the beach and on the other side there was a great shopping center. Just don't let yourself get pushed into buying something. ADVICE: Don't go outside alone if you are a woman. Egyptians can sometimes be very pushy.
The airport was about 10-15 mniutes away. If you arrive late in the evening or at night, it's really good to know that it doesn't take long to get to the hotel.
We went on two excursions. Once we went on a cruise by glass boat. It cost 15 Euros per person and it took two hours. The corals were not so beautiful anymore, but there were still lots of fish.
We didn't book the second excursion in the hotel. The second one was diving with dolphins.
A friend from Germany told us about it and we just looked up the cell phone number in the internet and took it with us to Egypt and then we called the travel agent from there.
2 days later we went on the excursion. The travel agent was called SIM SIM. He was from Germany and he promised to 95 % that we would see dolphins. So if you want to book something like that, don't book it with ETI!!!
And we really did see dolphins and even swam with them twice. You really have to experiecne something like that once in your life. The excursion took from 06:00am to 17:00pm... it cost 55,00 Euros per person.
The staff were always friendly but with a small tip they were even more friendly and of course quite a bit faster with the drinks. So if you could afford a nice holiday you should also think about the people a bit... They often worked over 12 hours and were still supposed to be friendly and quick... So think about them a bit.
The waiters as well as the receptionist spoke good German. The room cleaning took place every day, and it was also cleaned well. During the week we got a fruit basket and slices free of charge in the room. Nice. Every day 2 bottles of water were also placed in our room. Minibar wasn't included in the all inclusive offer.
We sadly can't say anything about the handling of complaints as we never had any.
Gastronomy
There were 2 restaurants in the main building. The Oasis restaurant for lunch at the beach and a beach bar where it also had vegetarian food. Also in the restaurant it was always and immediately cleared if one was finished. Naturally it wasn't like the standard in Germany.
Sport & Entertainment Unused
Room
As mentioned above we had a very big room. The only thing that should be renovated soon is the bathroom. It was always cleaned cleanly but you could see that it's best years were behind it.
Tips and recommendations
Telephone costs were very high in Egypt. If you were there for a while and liked to phone home you could buy yourself a SIM card at the pharmacy, respectively a chargeable card. Cost 0.15 cents per sms. It was also important not to buy the visa with ETI but when you came out of the airplane don't go into the hall directly on the left but go straight on to the "BANK". Here you got 2 visas for 1 from ETI. Don't take the tablets you brought with you if you had diarrhea. They didn't help at all in Egypt. If you went out of the hotel there was a pharmacy directly on the right. Here you could get diarrhea tablets, respectively everything for stomach cramps. And after 1-2 days it was already again.
