Hotel Sol Y Mar Dar El Madina

The hotel was located in the second row, which meant we had to walk a short way to the beach. But as the food in the hotel was that good and rich, that wasn't too bad (for the weight). You should, however, make sure to book a flight to Marsa Alam and not to Hurghada, if possible, otherwise the drive from the airport would take more than 3 hours. The transfer worked very well, though.
Excursions were offered by the tourist guide, but we didn't make use of them.

The service in the hotel was just perfect. The staff was very friendly, even without being tipped. Almost all of them spoke a little German, but better English. The rooms were absolutely okay, including little masterpieces of towels on the bed. The doctor in the hotel, who I unfortunately had to turn to, was the best. I felt very well taken care of. The doctor was very precise and thorough. The best was when a server brought me special food to the room, prepared especially for me, upon the advice of the doctor. I had never experienced something like that before.

We could also feel very well in the restaurant and in the bars. The food was always very good and varying. There was everything available except for pork (but that should be well known when going to such a country), and it was very tasty. Everything was fantastically arranged. There were always dishes typical for the country too, which we liked a lot because I can still eat European food when I'm in Europe. The charcoal grill on the terrace was used every day, and we could have fish, meat or the like freshly prepared here.
The drinks were very varying too, and the Egyptian red wine was really good, as well as the rosé.

We didn't need entertainment on holiday, and it wasn't pushy anyway. Internet access was available and worked well. We didn't use the pool. The beach was always clean, and there were even big changing cubicles and enough showers available. There were enough beach chairs and umbrellas available. If you went to have a snack or a drink in the beach bar, you could leave your stuff on the beach without any problems, nothing disappeared. There were very pleasant people on the beach (Germans, Italians, Swiss, Austrians, Belgians and very nice Russians, as already mentioned).
We could admire wonderful fish, even without a snorkel.

Our room was very tastefully and discreetly furnished and rather spacious. The shower was very big too, and everything was absolutely clean.
The air conditioning came with the newest technology, but the fans inside seemed to be already older or broken. They were very loud. We asked for a second room card and then cooled the room down when we weren't around.
In the evening, there were short blackouts every now and then, but they were only seconds long. Since there were candles on the tables everywhere, we sometimes didn't even really notice.

The only thing which has to be considered it the airport, as mentioned above. So, don't fly to Hurghada, if possible. Marsa Alam airport was very near, but we were never bothered by fly-over noise.
The weather was really "boring" :-)) Blue sky and sunshine all the time, the air was around 35°C and the water about 28°C warm.
