Super beautiful holiday *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AVery nice hotel, although we saw here and there the age, but everything was well kept and kept in best shape. Everything was very clean. The all inclusive offer was truly inclusive, food and drinks were best, the service also.
The buildings were spread out in the extensive garden area, which was not at all cramped or crowded. The winding roads were perfect for a romantic evening stroll.
For the guest structure: mainly Americans and Canadians, some Brits, the rest was a nice mixture. In the first week (end of November) the hotel was half empty, at December the American wedding celebrations arrived. :-)
Location
Transfer from the airport took about 1.5 hours, we were already asked at the airport to the Couples Lounge to get the first refreshments. Then we took the minibus to the hotel.
The hotel was located on the 7-Miles-Beach, a powder-fine sandy beach, clear turquoise sea - perfect. On the beach there was a security service that prevented the peddlers to not bother the guests.
For shopping there was the typical souvenir stores in Negril. For evening entertainment at the beach bars often there was live reggae music.
There were numerous excursions, whether from TUI or booking at the hotel directly. We booked here for tips on the website in advance of our tours with John and Anita (johnmaica-online.com), and could only pass on the recommendation!
The service was really first class. The staff was all friendly and accommodating, often with a song on our lips and always good.
Everyone spoke English there, often very fast and a little unusual pronunciation in that respect, but after a day or two we could get used to it easily clear. :-) For emergencies there was also a German-speaking concierge.
The ladies from room cleaning came twice a day and always did their job to our full satisfaction.
Even without the extra tips, there were no complaints about the service (even if it was claimed in some reviews).
Gastronomy
There were 4 restaurants: Palms (buffet & a la carte, international), Patois (a la carte, Jamaican), Feathers (a la carte, Caribbean / French) and Lemon Grass (a la carte, Thai) and 2 beach bars (Cabana Grill and Seagrapes). reserve for the feather and the Lemon Grass must be a table. According to American custom, we waited in all restaurants and they brought us to the table. But these did not disturb, we were on holiday and had time. :-)
Except for the Feathers we tried everything, it tasted great everywhere! At the buffet, everything was always freshly prepared and plentiful, and everything was clean. Used dishes were immediately removed.
At noon, we mostly ate at one of the beach bars, a small snack. Be sure to try the Jerk Chicken at the Cabana Grill, and the salads from Seagrapes!
Sport & Entertainment
There was a large offer of sports, which we did not use at all.
In the evening there was the Palms Showtime, usually live music, or a local performing show group (like steel drum). Itself very nice, just incredibly loud! If anyone sat near the stage it was difficult to talk normally. Therefore, one point deduction. But we could ask for a table further away, and then watch the Americans on the dance floor. :-)
The two pools were quite small, but there was a large salt water "pool" directly in front of the door. On every beach chair a cushion could be used as an air mattress. On the beach there were plenty of palm trees for shade from the Caribbean sun.
Room
The rooms were large and clean, we had an Ocean Verandah Room with a great view over the lush garden to the ocean, and felt really comfortable there.
The furnishings included a minibar (important!), TV, coffee & tea utensils, safe, telephone, air conditioning and fan. We hardly ever used the air conditioner, the fan was perfectly sufficient.
Tips and recommendations
As written above, book the tours with John and Anita! On the one hand John was a very careful and calm driver, which was very important on the disastrous road conditions in Jamaica! There were also groups of up to 8 people, which made the trips in my opinion less stressful and more personal.
We were from late November to early December there and throughout the day it was 28-30°. Once it rained (at night), but as usual in the Caribbean only briefly but fiercely, and the next morning everything was forgotten. :-)
In any case, we could only recommend this hotel! If we should ever be carried off to the Caribbean, then to Couples Swept Away!
