Hotel Thalassa

Lies close to small beach Antonio, close to big beach Makris Gialos, close to shops, bars & restaurant, walk to Argostoli 35 min (partly very hilly walk) taxi 6 Euros (if not in strike) fixed prices, no meter, tap water okay & no mosquitoes.

The Staff: helpful, caring, & friendly (especially Alexia – a big thanks to you).

The breakfast bufee: fabulous variety with the classics, full English & homemade local specialties, fruit, sweets. A small minus for late serving 8.30-10 – if you are an early bird it could be of inconvenience.

The pool: fabulous & clean, ca 20 m long, sun beds, umbrellas & shower, snack bar & mini market beside pool.
The gym: treadmills, trainers, fitness free weights 1 to 10 kg, multi- gym machine out of order during our 14 day stay (not repaired although we made staff aware).
No entertainment what so ever.
WiFi connection in lobby very unstable, didn’t work several days.
The Sky bar: only open on special occasions but in need of extensive renovation.

The room: very spacious, own entrance (not via reception), cleaned every day, kitchenette, big balcony. We got a better room with balcony though we had payed for a ground terrace.
The bathroom: big & luxurious, shower cabin, nice illuminated, big mirror & hairdryer.

Extras: you keep your room key all day, possible to shower/freshen up in the gym last day (when you have a late flight), also borrow towels, safe box in your room.

The overall impression: a luxurious hotel in beautiful environment, lovely breakfast veranda but a few flaws; the broken weight machine in the gym, the worn down roof bar (we went to look at it & were pretty rudely told it was forbidden area).
Some days we didn’t get a bathroom mat (made floor slippery). We sacrified a towel for mat but no one changed it although it became dirty. Only change of towels every 3 day. The tables at the breakfast veranda weren’t set every morning – one wonder why?
A slight feeling of that the concept Thalassa Hotel doesn’t quite reach its full potential.
But also caring staff – one day we got flowers, fruits & wine in our room. On leaving day we got a bottle of local red wine as a farewell gift (highly appreciated).
In all we had a lovely holiday during our stay at beautiful Kefalonia!
