Very nice interior, but poor service *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Carlton on Madisson Avenue is an upscale, relatively new hotel in the heart of Manhattan - although not fully finished yet, but hardly what the guests. The location of the hotel is very good as within walking distance you can attractions such as the Flatiron Building, the Empire State Building, the Penn Station or Grand Central. Also two tube stations max. 5 Minutes away. The rooms are relatively small, but very stylish and modern equipped, there is a large flat screen tv, safe, plenty of storage and air conditioned. Also the beds are very comfortable and it - which I found it important - real bedding and not only a sheet with blanket, as we'd often find in the States. Major drawback is that the majority of the rooms toward Madisson Avenue shows. There wasn't a lot of traffic noise, as might be thought, but a gigantic ventilationsanlage in a sort courtyard is appropriate. This resort is a unbearable noise even with the windows can hardly bearable. I stayed at the hotel rooms with aircon and the windows 65-70 dB volume measured (with my phone). Because of this noise I asked for a new room on the counter. This request was extremely rude taken. some other guests, as I know because of the noise asked for a room change. After a day waiting time could then move. The new room was but only a little quieter. Generally the friendliness for a hotel of this category extremely bad! You weren't greeted at the counter and all request we had was handled with a huge resentment. Once talking on a request two staff in Spanish and giggling all the time. The cleaning staff were rude and responsive never on "hello" or "Good morning" with an answer. All in all I can say about this hotel: "Nice interior, bad service. " I would not recommend it and wouldn't want to stay there again.
