A old, but nice hotel in the heart of town! *

The hotel is one of the oldest buildings in Vancouver. Although it is surrounded by all the skyscrapers, was a very impressive size. The hotel has 15 floors and many rooms. It was renovated several years ago. It is not the most up to date hotel, but it has a wonderful charm. The hotel is clean and the service was great. Only the spa-area could be a little bit better maintained. The guests are from 40 upwards.

The hotel is located in the perfect location! The Sky Train stops around the corner. The journey from the airport took about 30 minutes. The Fairmont is located downtown. If you enjoy walking, you can walk to many things: Stanley Park, the aquarium, waterfront, Grandville Island, Art Gallery, Vancouver Lookout. The water is within 10 minutes. The largest shopping street (Robsen Street) is almost right in front of the door. There's great restaurants in all price range. From steak fish to Italian, Japanese and Chinestisch has it all.

The staff was very friendly, room service good. languages spoken were English and French. The cleanliness of the rooms could not be faulted. Each morning, a daily newspaper outside the door.

The fitness room has good and new equipment (treadmills, bicycles, elliptical machine). In the changing area you will find (for men and women) a small sauna. Unlimited towels. The Fairmont has a pool and hot tub. Both are a little bit older. The water in the hot tub is really nice hot. Pool and hot tub we have almost always had to ourselves. For about $15 you get internet access in the room (if you have your own computer has brought).

The rooms are huge. We had a room with dressing room and a small connecting rooms outside of the bathroom and even though we had booked a standard room. The furniture is classic. The carpet is a little bit older. The beds are very comfortable and huge! There is air conditioning, TV, minibar, coffee maker, and telephone. The minibar worked secure. You take something out, you have to pay for it, although you not drink. Coffee are available for free and is really quite good. Although the rooms are not super modern maybe, you feel very comfortable! They suit the charm of the whole place.

Tips and recommendations

Next to the hotel there is a coffee shop "Artigiano". There was always quite busy but you get great coffee, delicious grilled sandwiches, yogurt, muffins and has wireless internet access free!
