Nice hotel right in downtown Vancouver *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel makes a very venerable family tradition impression and is located in the center of downtown Vancouver. The hotel is very large, the service was anonymous (but then "standard" friendly). The guests were very mixed, a few my opinion business as well as vacationers.
Location
The hotel is very centrally located in the downtown area. Shopping areas like the Pacific Center or Robson Street is approximately 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Waterfront, Gastown or Canada Place are in about 10 - 15 minutes. In the near vicinity there is a sky train station and a bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
The front desk staff was friendly, I and not really stood out. The concierge service was also very helpful, but sometimes the feeling that you at our requests (visit Olympiastätten, drive to the USA) didn't know what they languages ... The room service was very good and thorough, shampoo, body lotion, etc. Was replenished daily. Apart from that were some furniture partly on arrival. Dusty. Complimentary newspapers delivered to the room in the morning.
Gastronomy Unused
Sport & Entertainment
During our stay was the pool and spa area closed for renovation. than anything but free access to a well equipped fitness center (one block from the hotel). (Expensive) there are places to shop in the hotel (Gucci, Louis Vuitton, but also souvenirs). The internet access in the hotel is at an extra cost.
Room
The room (Fairmont room) was on the 4. Floor, the size was absolutely sufficient for 2 people. The rooms can vary in size, our second room (also Fairmont room) was about 1m broad. The facilities include a large LCD TV, mini bar, two telephones, and a large walk in closet. Some furniture but the age. Tea and coffee were complimentary. The bathroom (incl. Bath) was very generously designed. Despite the busy streets in front of the hotel the room was very quiet. There was no noise from neighboring rooms. At each floor level there is also a dispensers for ice cubes.
Tips and recommendations
An attraction of the hotel are the 2 dogs "Beau" and "mavis" with which you as a guest stroll through Vancouver. Not a rental car if you want to park in the hotel garage parking is also at the Pacific Center parking garage. The value for money was great: 6 days (without breakfast) for 150 Euro per person (Dertour-Katalogangebot).
