Hotel with Great location right on the River Ness! *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A A- Small and comfortable - approximately 25 rooms - decor is typically British (not negative term! ) The most important thing was: It is clean, tidy and neat! (We have experienced in the same holiday somewhere to stay in Edinburgh! ). We only booked breakfast to be flexible. You have good evening in the city for example in a pub food. The guests, we saw were all British all ages.
Location
- Arrival by bus from Edinburgh (approx. 4.5 Hour drive with megabus. Com - great value for your money! ) - Maybe a 10 -15 minute walk from the bus station (definitely acceptable! ) - It is really GREAT on the river Ness! To the center or to first shops basically a short walk (4-5 minutes. ) Along the Ness. This also takes you to the Castle, which was situated on a increase. Almost next door is also the tourist office (very many offers to excursions, very recommended) the location of the hotel was ideal! Depending on the room you had a view of the river and the cathedral across the river - like we did. We liked that very much! In addition, it is nice and quiet at night and it's easy to hear the calming sound of the river. Inverness is the capital of the Highlands and has so about 35,000 inhabitants. It has a variety of shops and even a small mall. We loved the PRIMARK (about C&A). On the way down to the center. By the way had a lot pubs and the like. The best is definitely the "HOOTANANNY". Every night typical scottish live music and food has a Thai! Great combination and absolutely pleasant atmosphere. It is the most popular pub by locals of Inverness elected, what we absolutely understand! To the Castle there is an original Spanish tapas bar "La tortilla Asesina" the can be recommended. For excursions or entertainment you can relax at the Toursiteninformation place u-turn. We have already from Germany Jacobite about a 6.5 -hour tour (Loch Ness boat trip, Urquhart Castle, Corrimony Cairn etc. ) which we'd recommend to anyone. But you can also is available. Clear: Loch Ness is not far and should be seen. However, you can also watch the whales, after Orkney by boat and much more. Inverness is an ideal starting point for any activities!
- Staff were always friendly - English should you can, not perfect, but a bit so you had to communicate basic level - room was always clean and tidy, no reason for complaint! - Additional services such as laundry service we had not necessary and therefore we don't know whether it offered.

The hotel's restaurant has a great view of the river. Also by non-hotel guests it was gladly taken, as evenings in the morning as guests as were the apparently did not have a room. The cutlery and table were clean, the service impeccable. We had only booked breakfast and dinner at Hootananny's. The breakfast was basic, typically British it was totally enough. There was sausage and cheese for those who are not like hot breakfast. We were satisfied!
Sport & Entertainment not available
Room
The room was large enough and they made us feel very welcome! The furnishings are a bit dated or British country house style. The my we didn't negative, as many of the hotels seem to be; this is what in Scotland. Important was rather that it was clean and tidy! - Hairdryer, kettle, telephone, and modern LCD TV were available. - Safe we did not get any, but didn't need one, since everything always do. - Bathroom was was a bit worn. Typical British sink, cold and warm separated from each and on the other side of the pool. - Shower was basic but acceptable and clean. - Shower gel/shampoo as well as new combination shower/towels were new provided.
Tips and recommendations
The prices are in general, exactly regarding the food and drink, more expensive than in Germany. That's just so on the island. Food so from 7-8 pounds and beer (very important: :-) ) about 4 - 4.5 pounds. The you should be aware of that. The beautiful land and the attentiveness and friendliness of Scots compensate more for that! It recommends eating before the trip to visitscotland. Com to check out! There you find lots of information and tips. We have a lot in advance sorted out and so best prepare. We booked our trips through the recommended businesses booked there - perfect! For Inverness is definitely "Jacobite Tours" a very good and good suppliers tours and days out! If we go back to Scotland - which we hope to - we will instead of Edinburgh Inverness as a starting point. It has all the facilities you need, but is not crowded and dirty as was the capital (that you must see Edinburgh is not a question! This is a must! ). The hotel provides numerous opportunities for excursions! Loch Ness and the Kaledonische canal (boats can be rented without driving licenses! ) are virtually next door, as well as the North Sea. - were from 28.05 . -30.05.2009 (May-June is generally recommended) - everything green, great weather (not a cloud) - pleasant temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees - was that it was a lot of daylight at that time, since I had quite far north. Be sure to have time for a stroll along the river. Many small churches and beautiful views! At night is a bridge in different colors. There is also a section with several small islands in the river. Not far from Inverness is Culloden. There will find Highlandgames and historical battles. We didn't experience, but it should be very interesting.
