Das Hotel ist in den letzten Jahren durch verschiedene Hände gegeangen. Dies hat Spuren hinterlassen. Seit es jedoch zur WESTIN Gruppe mit Sheraton etc. gehört geht es deutlich aufwärts. Das Haus ist zunächst einmal ein riesiger Klotz mit wenig Charme. Bucht man jedoch eines der bereits neu renovierten Zimmer, wird man mit höchstem Luxus verwöhnt. Bei den noch nicht renovierten bzw. den überhaupt noch nie renovierten Zimmern kann man jedoch böse Überraschungen erleben. Daher bei der Buchung genau nachfragen.
Es ist immer recht viel Leben im Hotel. Das kann einerseits ganz unterhaltsam sein, andererseits sollte man Zimmer in unmittelbarer Nähe der Aufzüge meiden.
Der Poolbereich wurde kürzlich "notsaniert" und sieht jetzt schon sehr viel besser aus als sein sozialistischer Vorgänger. Leider wurde bei der Ausführung nicht allzu sorgfältig vorgegangen, so dass die schönen Mosaiken bereits wieder abbröckeln.
Ich mag das Hotel, da es auch sehr schön nah am Zentrum gelegen ist und ab dem 12.ten Stockwerk (bei richtiger Zimmerwahl) einen tollen Ausblick auf das Stadtzentrum bietet.
