Good hotel, but slightly overrated *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Tivoli is located on the marina of Portimao. 500 meters to the beach. About two kilometers from the center of Portimao. My originally booked junior suite was a double room with a small kitchenette. In each room you can see some signs of wear, such as mold on the wall, apart case end frame, badly functioning heating, little water pressure, old and calcified bathroom fixtures, dirty and patched-up curtains, old CRT. All things that you can live with. The dining room was nicely equipped, but many of the chairs were unsteady and filthy. I can only say that the breakfast buffet was average. Safe and Internet were free of charge. The communication from the front desk to the room or the dining room were good. The roof was broken in many places, so it was wet when it rained. As I had five days of rain during my stay, this happened so often.
Bottom line: good hotel, but one should not be too convinced by the good reviews.
