Not your typical van der Valk Hotel *

The hotel is smaller than many other hotels in the van der Valk-chain and didn't look very appealing. Our comfort room was big enough, the beds were comfortable, the mattresses unfortunately different. The tv was a bit small. Water heater (with tea bags, coffee and cocoa) was available, unfortunately no refrigerator. In the first floor was a free ice machine and a vending machine on the ground floor. In the closet there was a free safe. Free Wi-Fi available for 15 minutes four free of charge. The comfort rooms are located in the Annex and had a small terrace with two chairs or a French balcony.
The staff-especially at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
The bathroom was large and well equipped with tub and separate shower stall. Soap, shower gel and shampoo were available and refilled every day.
The breakfast room was rather dark and not very appealing, the quality of the breakfast buffets was good.
Excursion possibilities: the place bed ter ward, the nature reserve Aernewald, Leeuwarden, Dokkum. The surrounding area is great for biking in the nature, biking trails in the Netherlands on the basis of the nodes 'are unique, a bike map we didn't really need. We visited one day the island of ameland, ferry and bicycle on the island were included in our package. The weather played with, and so we could explore a part of the island, on the wheel.
We can recommend this hotel, even though it is older and in need of renovation in some places.
