Not before April with kids! *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe complex is built in a U-shape around the pool and consists of four partitions linked by staircases. The middle two contain the reception and the restaurant. The hotel is open over winter, so it is booked by small groups of retired guests spending the winter (there must certainly be a special price for those over 65:-)). So anyone like us who is coming with kids will be wise to wait until after April. We were there already once in October, when the other guests were mostly families with kids of all ages, and groups of youth were staying in the hotel.
Location
It's located on the edge of all the ruckus, so it's quite a bit calmer but nevertheless you can get to the action quickly. Since we always hire a car, it's nice to always have an open parking space right at the hotel, simplifying transportation for all our excursions around the island.
Very friendly waitstaff, some of the reception can speak German.
Gastronomy
Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the food. We came to this hotel an extra time because the cuisine really convinced us. This may have had something to do with the fact that it was still off-season and the place was full of wintering seniors. But against our expectations, the meals were often very similar, with unremarkable seasoning, and almost nothing exciting in the buffet. The selection of desserts and fruits also wasn't so luxurious as we experienced before. Overall we had planned on quite a bit more. We usually ate out when taking trips and just came back to the buffet in the evenings for a little snack. Breakfast was okay, just not so varied as we remembered.
Sport & Entertainment
The kiddie disco and entertainment programs don't start until the beginning of April, unfortunately - which was a huge disappointment for our little ones, since they got specifically excited for this reason. We therefore spent most of the evenings in the room or went walking in the streets. Most of the restaurants and bars as well as the hotels don't open until April - so in the downtown itself there also wasn't much going on. In the basement there is a small fitness room, and also a narrow, perhaps 5m long indoor swimming pool.
Room
After just a little time we felt quite at home in the apartment. It's cleaned regularly along with a fresh change of towels. The mini-kitchen is well-equipped and the TV gets German shows via satellite. The balcony is big enough for comfort. The two wardrobes offer plenty of storage space and the bathroom is quite large. It was a bit cold in the evening, which the vents can't really help. We got a lot of wool blankets, though.
