Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe - two German adults and our 15 years old daughter - booked the hotel without any special services, just as an appartment to stay. Big complex of estimated 250 appartments of 1-3 rooms and balcony. We booked one with two rooms and bathroom.
Location
Mallorca provides all we expect: culture (in this case: Alcudia's nice historic centre nearby, the island's capital Palma everey hour by chaep bus line, the ruins of the mountain fortress of Alaro by rented car), beach and sea (Alcudias beach 5 min away from the hotel, is the nicest I have experienced at the Mediterranean seaside), nature (nearby Alcudia and farer away in the Northwest mountains of nearly alpine character for walking and climbing, the nature park of s'Albufera at the south end of Alcudia).
Shops, are everywhere, even cheap dicounter Lidl is only 10 min awa from the hotel. You miss nothing, you have in northern Europe.
To be mentioned is the fact, that during the last week of October, when we stayed, most of the tourist-facilities in Alcudia are closing down one after the other. We liked the quietness, others may miss the liveliness at the week's beginning and in the rest of the season.
The rooms had always been cleaned well. Towels were changed when needed. The persons at the check-in desk helped in all questions we asked and we could enter the appartment already in the mornig hours of our early arrival (10.00 h) and leave it just before the late coming of the airport bus (18.00 h) which in fact gave us nearly full eight days of staying. Most of the staff we met could speak English, those at the information desk spoke German, too. Not having booked and used any extras (which you can also do on the place if you haven't done it before), we didn't notice any kind of inferior treatment. Very good: free W-LAN service.

Room
The rooms were spacy, equipped with all we needed for making breakfast or even a little lunch. Sofa corner with table, Breakfast table with chairs, little TV, two mirrors (important for the ladies), double bed in the bedroom, free W-LAN. The street-side balcony was big enough to sit on and equipped with a big-enough clothes drying rack. The bathroom-design and state was not up-to-date, but clean and well-functioning. We don't need more! As we heard and read this will be changed during next winter.
Tips and recommendations
If you want to stay on your own at a good price, not being pressed into hotel time-tables and the liberty to eat in different restaurants (with simultaneous possibilities of using eg the pool or the hotel's animation programs) I can strongly advise booking in the Viva Sunrise / Alcudia (at least via the Neckermann/Thomas Cook portals as we did). Weather in the end of October was sunny (with some short rain showers, mostly in the night) not disturbing anything in our travel program.
