Tips and recommendations
The following points were addressed during my stay to the management of the resort itself and the head office of Voyager resorts after my return home. Have I ever received any comments? No. It seems to be quite obvious that they don't care.
A lot of members of staff, though, make up with their positive attitude and their friendliness.
Presumably there is someone on duty 24/7. On the night of my arrival, though, I dialed 0 several times because I needed help but no one answered. Had my dialing 0 been an emergency, I would have been left alone with it.
During my stay, a few functions were held on the rooftop of my buildng, some of them with loud music until the middle of the night. No one cared that there are guests who want to sleep before 1 am.
Upon check-in, the all-inclusive band was attached to my room key instead of to my wrist as I was going diving a lot. I had the room key with the band with me at all times. Still I was checked upon (if not to say harrassed) a number of times by members of staff for not wearing it, especially at lunchtime (one day four times within half an hour).
I even ran into trouble on the first day because having ordered a beer I was served with a bottle and asked to pay for it (which eventually, after some discussion, I did not have to). This could easily have been avoided had there been any information about what is included in the all-inclusive package.
There is an extra charge for a standard room feature such as a safe. This looks more like a money-making scheme than an extra service.
How long does it take to exchange a light bulb? At VBR it takes at least 36 hours and a couple of reminders before one has the reading lights back.
The quality of food and service depended to a great extent on who was on duty. It was not consistent at all. This included the special seafood restaurant Smuggler's Cove; there were days when everything - food, drinks and service - were very good but there was an equal amount of days when quality was lacking.
PS. I do understand that I should not expect the same level of service as for example in Europe. But for a hotel that wants to top, still a lot needs to be done.
