Excellent hotel, in quiet location, short walk from village
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AOn arrival at Wengen station we were almost immediately met by hotel staff who took us and our luggage to the hotel in a matter minutes.
Hotel reception staff were friendly and efficient, check-in took little or no time and whilst being shown our room our luggage was brought up to us.
Room was little 'cosy' but had sufficient room to store empty luggage completely out of the way. Room and bathroom cleaned to a high standard every day with the facility for clean bedlinen and towels on a daily basis if required.
Most staff were met at meal times, they were all extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. Dining room is clean comfortable. Breakfast was by way of hot and cold buffet with a good selection of both. Evening meal was five courses, waiter service with salad buffet with a choice of two main courses plus one vegetarian dish.
Well stocked bar and comfortable lounge with log fire.
To sum up, an excellent hotel, in a quiet location, a short walk from the village centre, with friendly and efficient staff, it has clean and comfortable rooms and public areas and serves a good selection of foods to a high standard. Thoroughly recommended.
PS, For those who don't like trudging from hotel to ski lifts and back again in ski boots carrying skis & poles there is a facility to leave your ski equipment in the skiroom of the Hotel Silberhorn, a sister hotel, in the centre of Wengen.
