Superb hotel - would highly recommend
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AOn arrival to this hotel we found the staff extremely welcoming, and they greeted returning guests (which the majority of guests were), like long lost friends.
This was exemplary of their behaviour all week, absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them, particularly when I suffered an injury halfway through the holiday and required transportation to the local doctor. They were even willing to take me to and collect me from a local bar as it was too far to walk on crutches! All staff members seem to genuinely love their job and a huge effort is made by all to ensure that your stay at the Wengener Hof is as enjoyable as possible.
It is worth noting that this is a very traditional hotel in terms of decor, do not expect it to be in keeping with that of a modern 4* hotel. That having been said, it is still pleasantly decorated and cleanliness was of an extremely high standard.
The food here is exceptional; the range of hot and cold food on the breakfast buffet (including bacon, eggs, smoked salmon and champagne), is enough to keep you going all day until it is time to sit down to the evening meal. For this there was always a choice of mains including a vegetarian option, and although the portions aren't enormous, by the end of the week we were struggling to eat the five courses every night that come as standard!
This was our first holiday to Switzerland but due to our wonderful stay and the impeccable service that we received at the Wengener Hof we have booked to return next year.
