Hotel Wengener Hof

Surroundings very quiet and small garden quite pretty. Fantastic view of the Lauterbrunnen valley from the balcony.

Could not fault them in any way at all. That says it all.

Food was good , always well presented slightly too "nuveau cuisine" for hungry skiiers but the breakfasts, salad buffets and deserts were unlimited and made up for occasionally light main courses. The one a week "farmers buffet" was magnificent, all you could eat and more.

This hotel deliberately does not do "entertainment" - if you want that go elsewhere.
Instead it has the wondefull restrained and relaxed air of an Edwardian hotel. 3e loved it but younder couples might find it too quiet.
It has free Wi-Fi and an internet terminal for guests.

everything clean and works well.
Heating works well and is controllable.
Room layout with a shelf above bed does not work very well , glasses of water get tangled up with light and telephone cords with inevitable wet effects - other than that 100%.
Bath has a very abrasive anti-slip finish, spotlessly clean but inclined to rub off the top layer of your skin if you linger too long !!

This hotel is for you if you want old-fashioned service, peace and quiet and an excellent view. If you are an 18 year old you will probably not like it as it is quiet, restrained and has no wellness, disco, pool table, garden railway, dancing girls, flashing lights, 1, 000 watt PA in the bar, foam parties etc etc .
We thought it was wonderfull, but then our combined age is 110 years old (and yes we have and still can ski all the red runs in Wengen)
