Hotel Xenia

The two-hour transfer from the airport to Ouranoupoli is very interesting by car and leads via the Cholomon mountains.
On this trip we got a nice insight of the hinterland of the peninsula.
The first impression of Ouranopolis was very positive to me, there were no large concrete hotels and the small village has retained its originality. It was only a short walk from the hotel
into town, with its many tavernas and small shops. We went to Karidas tavern every day. Very nice service and very personal. Due to the season the hustle and bustle always ended
early though. If you stayed a bit longer, the host or hostess
always still had a smile on their faces.
It's about a 30 minute walk to Mount Athos, where you can see some monks.

Staff very friendly You could get along well with English. The rooms were always super clean. There were no complaints.
The suitcases were brought to the room and also picked up again.

Breakfast and dinner were offered as a buffet. The selection was okay. You could get full and there was also always something for everyone's taste. There was a hotel bar but sadly the prices were too high for our taste, for example : 1/2 ltr of Retsina for 8€. We therefore preferred the wine in the taverns in Ouranopolis, s.a.

On holiday I don't need any internet or entertainment. The beach was nice, but about 200 metres north, it was even nicer.
At the hotel there was a shower (not brand new). Water quality A1.

We stayed in the new wing, so everything was new and in order.
Air conditioning available (worked only when you were inside the room)
Safe available, though very small and very expensive. (€24 / 8 days)

Price- performance ratio was totally ok. Mobile phone worked.
