Ikaros Beach Resort & Spa

The location of the hotel was perfect when you were on the hotel area. Reason: The towns Stalis and Malia were about 2 kilometers away thank God. Thanks to a nice access road there was an additional safe distance to a shopping mile which didn't have many visitors during our holiday period. Nice narrow sandy beach in the east of the area which was lit up at night with floodlights. The bungalows were built on a rocky cliff. The transfer to the airport took about 1.5 hours. That was because of the cheap tour operator and the 9 horrible hotel areas which had to be driven to beforehand. Better book taxi, flight and hotel yourself. Excursion possibilities didn't interest us. We wanted to relax and we could do that completely. Except from these tiresome German pool reservers.

Staff: very friendly. We only noticed an old waiter with his false friendliness. This guy was unpleasant. Otherwise, everything was wonderful and especially the cleaning staff, the service staff and the receptionists were always friendly. Really all were very nice. You got as much friendliness as you were willing to give. I gave a lot and therefore also got a lot...

Food: We didn't expect much and are very fussy too. But it corresponded to the taste of the masses. The buffet was literally plundered and, of course, constantly refilled. So, most liked the food. Inside tip: Cream puff, refine the spaghetti with some olive oil from the salad buffet and the tomato sauce with chilli from the show kitchen, then, you had a wonderful arrabiata! The fish from the show kitchen was also excellent. Tzatziki, Greek salad, melons, peaches, seedless grapes... everything wonderful. You didn't starve! For the price: Reasonable.

We only enjoyed the mini disco because of our two girls and it was great! Especially when the female Italian group danced in front of the kids. Pool: The large pool was the most pleasant one for us apart from the German guests who reserved pool chairs. For the price: Great!

The room: Perfect! Small but new and nice! For the price: Great!

You have to compare everything. The hotel didn't have 5 stars. They didn't sell it as such either. We booked 4 stars and got them. The food was better in Austria of course. You got a beautiful, well-kept area with great room for a reasonable price! It was difficult to book small 4 respectively 5 stars hotels because there weren't much of them or they were very expensive, therefore, such medium sized areas were the only alternative.
