Basic, unpretentious hotel but nice view *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe booked this hotel very last minute (no 24 hours before departure) and so for an unbeatable reasonable price. Cheap but is just what you expect here also. From the outside, the hotel made a good impression, however is the "lobby" a Art common room with the charm of a youth hostel, with a TV room, bar, reception - all in a not too large room. When looking closer makes the hotel a dearless paper bag with worn, upkeep.
Location
Zar is the hotel is right on the sea front and there is a beautiful "we continued our holidays in-sea-view", but it is approximately 700 meters from Kavos, the British Ballermann in Corfu. The so-called beach was not worth its name. A concrete determined max. 5 meters wide strips, I guess about 50 meters long. The water wasn't give a good impression as opposed to some of the other, real beaches in Corfu. The hotel is located at the southernmost tip of the island, which means that you can many km with a rental car (without the makes it did not).
Service is not really available. Towels are changed on the express request at the front desk. Toilet paper shall not be replaced! We were told that we need to purchase, thereby making us the end of the Fahnenstange was reached in the room. On our complaint we received grumpy a role will be distributed. The man at night (from 23: O0 hours) at the bar/reception (he is apparently not as the only family) was very hard. However it is the bar ran out of beer, when we on our last night at the "bar" wanted something to drink. There was no supplies.
Gastronomy
We had continental breakfast: dry, zwiebackähnlicher toast, a cup of coffee, 2 packet of butter and jam (every day the same category: strawberry), a glass of orange juice with about 7 ice cubes. We also had dinner at the hotel only ate there once. It has absolutely nothing to do with Greek cuisine. The rates are ok, the quality was sadly bad. As usual in Greece, will NOT paper tablecloths changed every guest. You can find the was left behind by the previous guests.
Sport & Entertainment
Pool is ok, to our travel time there were always enough beach chairs. But also here the same worn and underkept impression. They have 2 table tennis and pool tables. In the hotel lobby walked around the whole day the TV, optional greek or the full program. You can find some DVD's rent (old) on the TV to see. Also in the reception hall there was 2 PC's with Internet access.
Room
In our room, we found 3 beds and a(! ) bedside cabinet. On the wall mirror with a Art chest of drawers, and probably, musty wardrobe. To top it all off, however, the kitchenette: sticky, dirty with a minimal furnishing with the time unusable intersting cooking utensils. including an old, noisy fridge, but you can use. Was cleaned nothing here in the last few months. Thats for sure. The bathroom is old, worn and not well maintained. Even the towels are so shabby, that you are just as Putzlumpen to use. At least the shower worked. When and if here be cleaned, is for us in the dark. During our stay we found were the beds were made every day.
Tips and recommendations
We booked this hotel thank goodness for at a very reasonable price. Otherwise, we would Jose-Louis annoyed. Corfu is in May/June very nice with a rental car you can head on nice exploring. But there are truly nicer places and hotels than this. We find it completely unsuitable for children. Stay away from this hotel, best of all Kavos. A nice hotel in the north of the island.
