Kronplatz-Resort Berghotel Zirm

We were looking for an easy ski area for kids to enjoy simple runs, yet not to be on the same one for several time. We were well aware that this place is in the middle of nowhere and the location met our expectations. It is a ski in, ski out hotel but for our 4 y.o. it was a bit difficult to ski in /ski out (as we had to do the red run), the hotel has a shuttle to the lifts, but it is not running all day. No shuttle on Saturdays. Any avarege skier will not have any problems. The Nature is beautiful, the place is quiet, the traffic is away from the hotel. Things like dining out, shopping, tours etc are impossible without a car (taxi)

Staff is friendly, several languages are spoken, rooms are clean and timing of room service is always excellent. Restaurant service is always great. Play room for kids is located in the cold area of the building and when it was - 12 C outside it was impossible to use it. The family is happy to help with "not listed" services: bring something from the town, provide baby and child food not listed in the menu. Kids doctor in Olang (10 min drive).

The restaurant is big but cosy. Great food and service. Traditional cuisine. Also great food options for kids. Lots of fruits. The arrangement is called 3/4 board or half board (depending on the site), but we would call it full board. At lunch time soup and lots of cakes, non alcogolic drinks are free for breakfast and lunch.

Great swimming area with both inside and outside pools. Kids are not allowed to the sauna from 3 p.m. which is rather inconvenient for families with kids, but can be viewed as a plus for everyone else. Spa looks wonderful but we did not get a chance to use it. No place to workout. Not much entertainment: sometimes live music. The hotel has wireless, but Internet access was our greatest dissappointment in the hotel: connection is constantly failing and it is a waist of time (and money - it is not free)

Room spaceious and clean. Simple wooden furniture is new, TV and minibar are in the room. Big balcony, nice bathroom (some have a shower, some have a bath). Light and cosy. Carpet on the floor is clean. Room is perfectly safe for baby to crall around.

Good money value. The hotel has almost everything for a lovely family holiday, but if you are looking for entertainment, do not like to be "stuck" in one place - look for another town. Zirm is one of the best if not the best hotel in the area, but there is generally no place to go out in Olang area.
