Upon arrival we found the checkin staff most helpful and welcoming.

On the final night of our stay, we were invited to attend a dinner at the more formal restaurant near the lobby. Throughout our stay, the beachside restaurant staff have been great, very friendly, great service, and make it a point of interacting with their guests, another highlight of the hotel. We accepted this invitation to the dinner and booked in a table.

Unfortunately to say this is the start of our negative experience.Upon arrival to the restaurant that night, we were not welcomed to a table, and waited in the entrance for quite a while, the food was below average, with not many choices and well below the standard shown in the rest of the hotel (as an example, it was quite overcooked and quite boring). Service from the waiting staff was slow at best, it was quite an effort to get the attention from any of them, as they spent more time talking amongst each other and on the phone, than serving their guests. Cost of the night was nothing out of the ordinary compared to our home country standards, however, for the meal and service we were provided, it was an absolute rip off considering normal standard of food locally.

The following morning we checked out as part of our trip back home, we were told there would be someone to help us with our luggage at 7:30am from our room. Had a quick breakfast at the beachside, then i went up to reception at 6:45am to checkout whilst my wife packed a few last minute things in the room. She was greeted by a bell boy at 7:00am, where she proceeded to indicate there were still things to be packed, could he please come back in 10 mins. He never showed up again, despite myself calling up to reception 3 further times closer to our checkout. They eventually sent a female staff member, 5 mins after we should have been meeting the transfer car. Not sure how she was going to carry 2 large suitcases weighing 30kg's each as well as hand carry luggage by herself. We ended up carrying both suitcases up to the lobby from our room (about 200m or more, mostly up stairs), whilst my wife struggled with multiple smaller bags. At no point were we offered any additional assistance, until we were up in the lobby where there were 2 bell boys just hanging around.
The checkout process took 30 mins as the gentleman looking over this was having technical difficulties with the printer. Not a problem usually, however, we had a flight to catch.

Never again, considering there are so many other great options on Koh Samui...

The room and facilities of the hotel are absolutely superb, everything was well maintained. We did have a small incident of a leaking airconditioning unit, which was discovered by the evening turndown staff one night, however, this was fixed promptly, despite being at about 8:30-9:00pm in the night. No problem, thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of our stay.
