Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A Athe hotel lies west of Ipanema right on the beach. The choice fell on this hotel, as most of the peri-urban hotels were fully booked. The bar is standard with EU standards to compare! Only in the super de luxe hotel 400 euros upward. We felt the poor condition even 5-star hotel in this. The lobby of the hotel is very well equipped and a luxurious impression. The service at the front desk is extremely depended on the person. My check-in was smooth. Of my colleague (arrival 7:00 in the morning/early check-in booked) an impertinence: room would be ready until 16:00! No apology. Complaints remained booked unsuccessful. The room as most of the hotels in Rio old-fashioned. It seems, as if one would not invest in modernization. The bathroom was not up to the standard and poor built. On the walls was mold in the joints. The toilet glasses was scratched, as sandpapered! Fridge didn't work, was inspite of several complaints not repaired. Frustrating eleven days it was not a quiet place return train. Bad were the language skills: wanted to pay my drinks at the hotel bar, service brought the same order once again (2 beer and two water for my own)! Good was the proximity to the beach and the shuttle service of the hotel, to the fair price to the sights drives and waiting! Finally, the location: the hotel lies about 500 meters away from the biggest Favela Rios. We had the 'lucky', with a police raid 2000 policemen, Schützenpanzern and four helicopters to be. The hotel exhorted us, Saturday until 1:00 in the morning to be, as all roads would be blocked by police. Sleep was night the bottom of the helicopter flight is not possible. I will not here to check in. In Barra (further west, good residential area, shopping malls, top restaurants) or right next to the Copacabana when it free affordable rooms.
