The best hotel in Rethymnon
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThere are two options for your stay at the Pearl - the Pearl Hotel and the Aegean Pearl (more upscale hotel) on the same property. We have stayed at both hotels and would recommend them both highly. On this last trip, we stayed at the new Aegean Pearl hotel and found it to be amazing. The staff was incredibly hospitable, the hotel was new, fresh, clean and modern, and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Most of all we loved our room and the new bathroom!
Location
We enjoy Rethymnon the best. It has the best public beaches in Crete, a very interesting Old Town, and because of its location, has access to many sites including Hania/ Chania (an hour to the west) and Iraklion/ Heraklion/ Knossis (an hour to the east). We choose a few excursions including walking the Samaria Gorge and the Imbros Gorge (booked through Iakovos Travel) at the front desk.
One of the factors that has influenced us to return to the Aegean Pearl Hotel is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. It is amazing the number of languages the staff speak as well as their knowledge of the surrounding area and its history. We always feel very welcome at the Aegean Pearl because of the staff.
Gastronomy
Many hotels promise a breakfast buffet and deliver a few items to choose from. The Aegean Pearl breakfast buffet (included in the price of the room) was amazing! There were several stations (fruit, veg, dairy, warm foods, breads etc) - the choice for each breakfast was wonderful!
Sport & Entertainment
The beach is a few steps from the hotel and the hotel has several pools. Totally relaxing!!!
Room
We stayed at the Aegean Pearl Hotel and our room was incredible (great value for the price). The hotel is new so the rooms are new and fresh. The best part of the room was the bathroom and shower - all new and fresh. The room was equipped with TV, minibar, safe, balcony, a/c etc - everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.
