SALSA-holiday in old San Juan *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AAfter salsa-holiday in Cuba, we decided, this year holidays in Puerto Rico to make. After a long search on the Internet, we chose this hotel. The reservation of the journey took place on the Internet-the exclusive hotel we booked without meals. As already written all of our predecessors, the Sheraton old San Juan hotel at the best location (note: in San Juan there is another Sheraton Hotel). The hotel is old, but in good condition. Our room was very large, we had two balconies, air conditioning, safe, flat-screen tv (with pay tv and multi WWW), complimentary wired connection (very slow), coffee machine (free coffee/chargeable water-0.5 l = four dollars) and of course a wonderful large flauschiges bed. The bathroom was with a bath tub well-appointed. Towels inclusive Lavett daily fresh. So was the room actually, if at all, only the dark carpet to complain about. A small tip to the hotel: definitely itself electricity adapter Europe forward. These are in the hotel and this was a find difficult-a single adapter cost about $15!
Shopping Possibilities:
Right in the next block was a major drug store, supermarket, which to fulfill all wishes, comparable to Europe.
Means Of Transport:
In front of the hotel was a stop of the tourist bus, which tourists free and in a short time led by old San Juan. On the first day we have so many interesting sights seen (including the two fortresses). On the other side of the hotel is the bus station, from where you can in all directions, for little money, can drive (50-75 cents per person each way). If you are in the hotel or tourism agency inquires, taxis are recommended. We have however with the bus easy access to any destination. Cheapest rental car already exists from 35 dollars/day.
Salsa:
With regard to Cuba, where on every corner salsa dancing, the salsa dancing in old San Juan mainly on two/three restaurants. The Latin roots, which was directly behind the hotel was convenient, is most warmly recommended. From 18 o 'clock there is free salsa lessons and from 20 o' clock plays a live band. In addition to the drinks, you get a meal. A large dance floor where you can dance. Friday-, -Saturday, and Sunday were the best visited ten nights. During the week we were often there alone.
The café Nuyorican in contrast is more for insider. It was often overcrowded and there had hardly any place to go dancing.
Another restaurant, the rumba, we have never found/visited.
Otherwise also Saturday on the main square by the sea, salsa dancing.
Further salsa local outside of old San Juan. It is however to note, that certain bus lines only until 22 o 'clock, or even only until 20 o' clock in operation. The return journey to the hotel should therefore be made by taxi.
