We stayed at the Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna - for our honeymoon and did not regret it - on the contrary, we would definitely return once again!!!!
The area, despite its size and spread was still very easily arranged. There was still renovation work on the terrace, but the staff at the hotel did everything to make it possible, that the tourists had no disadvantage from it.
The cleanliness of the whole area as well as the room, was rated very good - every day new figures made of hand towels or fresh flowers on the bed, the bathroom was thoroughly cleaned, the beds too - no complaints.
The buffet for breakfast and dinner, was very rich, beautiful to look at and delicious too, of course. At the dinner buffet evening, there were different "Live Cooking" events outside on the terrace. Even if one went late to dinner it didn't seem as leftovers, the buffet was always refilled.
We met a couple with whom we sat outside a long time, and WHEN we really were the last that sat there nobody bothered us or asked us to leave, the staff waited as long until WE left. I must say that it only happened once, we really didn't notice though that we were the last at the "dining area" and the waiters still were all waiting :-| since that evening we were more attentive :-)
The topic waiters: First one had to get used to the (over) friendliness, if one had already been at other hotels, the service, the friendliness and the service were BEST.
We were at the end of the Ramadan season in El Gouna. The "locals" celebrated the end of Ramadan - it was in our case, that the area for 3 days was overcrowded with "rich" Egyptians who for the first chance could really celebrate. Maybe I would no longer necessarily book at the end of Ramadan, if I could choose. But it was still bearable and after 3 days all was over - and the atmosphere briefly changed.

Over lunch, teatime, etc. we could not say anything, since we didn't use all inclusive, we could not eat so much food :-)
If my husband was hungry in between at the pool bar there were snack possibilities as pizza, hamburgers, shrimp cocktails, baguettes, etc. to eat.

The area also had a French restaurant on the golf course where one could reserve a la carte food. It was supposedly very good, we failed to try it.

The area had a pool in the "Hotel Center" with a further pool on the other side of the area with pool bar. It was very comfortable there and a little more peaceful. However it was quiet in the whole hotel area - classy - quiet - to relax ...
The hotel and the golf course were surrounded by a very beautiful laguna, a small beach section offered the possibilitiy to relax directly there. There was also a private beach but one had to drive with the trolley bus - it was not our style - but for water sports fans (surfing, kiting, snorkeling, etc) definitely it was the right place to be.

Otherwise there was the possibility of playing golf or taking lessons to learn, jet-ski, laguna excursions, diving, snorkeling.
The usual activities such as one may know from other hotels, were not at the golf area. We didn't miss them.

Excursions as everywhere were offered by the tour operators.

Downtown to El Gouna city for a little money ($1 .) one could drive with Tuk Tuk, there were shopping possibilities, bars, cafes ... 2 or 3 times per week there were live events at the harbor - nice to experience.

Our free time activities highlight was the trial diving lesson. If one was interested in diving, one should invest money for a short trial lesson. All who knew the expression "Sealife", knew what was expected under water - BEAUTIFUL! We recommend the diver base "Blues Brothers" at the port in El Gouna. I do not advertise and do not for profit, but we felt very well cared for there and they were German diving teachers :-)

Room
