And again just perfect *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe have had the pleasure of visiting this hotel already for the 3rd time with its excellent service and its great atmosphere. We would like to take the opportunity to thank again the team of travel agency of HolidayCheck, who helped us with booking our holiday to our full satisfaction so that we could really enjoy our holiday - Thanks to the whole team.
This Steigenberger hotel was really a high class hotel, where your wishes were literally read in your eyes. The clientele was very mixed, that is to say of any age as well as of any nationality, which wasn't unpleasant under no circumstances. For those who seek peace and quiet this hotel is absolutely recommendable.
The large and very well-kept area offered a lot of space, so that you never felt constrained. But the hotel was still easy to get around compared to other luxury hotels in El Gouna. You immediately felt at home. Meanwhile we had checked out all the other luxury hotels in El Gouna, but this hotel is surely at the top of our list - in all areas.
The overall condition of the hotel can be described as very good, the restaurant area, which was renovated last year, invited to relax. The rooms and the suites keep getting renoveated and modernised all the time.
Also the other buildings were in perfect condition. Utmost importance was attached to cleanliness in the outdoor area, not least because of the supervision of the hotel manager, Mr. H.
Location
The hotel wasn't located directly on the beach (only a small beach invited you to go for a dip in the laguna), but there was a free shuttle service, which took the hotel guests to the beach of the hotel at the Magroove Beach- directly on the beach. The service here was just as the service in the hotel itself - cleanliness, towels, umbrellas and pool chairs were included.
The hotel was mostly surrounded by the golf course, thus there wasn't any noise pollution by neighboring hotels.
It was about a 10 minute walk to downtown across the golf course, with the tok tok (tuc tuc) - a kind of moterbike for 2-3 people it took about 5 minutes and cost about 1 €.
It took about 10 minutes to get to the harbor (Abu Tig), the price inside El Gounas was always the same.
In the hotel you could always book several excursions or diving trips.
The staff in the hotel was always friendly and helpful, mostly English was spoken, but meanwhile some employees have certain knowledge of German. When we were there, there were lots of new staff members, but they already had all the expert knowledge and friendliness that was needed.
Check-in went without any problems, but the staff was constantly available to solve problems. The cleanliness of the rooms was perfect, towel change went without saying of course- they put a lot of effort into keeping everything very clean. If you need to see a doctor, the hotel staff also helped you, and in case of emergency they take you to the nearby hospital. You surely got medicine at the recpetion for minor ailings and you were all right the next day again.
A special highlight for us was that we got invited by the management to come to the Welcome Back Party in the bar "PAR 19" as we had been in the hotel already for the third time. Apart from drinks they also served small snacks and you could chat with the managment a little bit.

Breakfast, or dinner was served in form of a buffet. Dinner had a different theme every evening, so that it was very varying. Of course, there were people who complained about the food, but I think due to the large selection that there should be something to everybody's liking. The quality of the food has to be mentioned especially, and also the cleanliness in the restaurant. I think the biggest problem was that you always want to try everything and therefore eat way too much.
If you still got hungry at noon, you could treat yourself with small snacks (5.50€) on the laguna terrace or eat at the lunch buffet which was also offered.
I think the prices were okay, they offered high class quality after all. That you have to pay more in a 5 star hotel than in a 3 star hotel is just normal, a beer (0.5l) cost about 4.00€, a bottle of wine at dinner cost about 20€ - foreign liquors were of course a little bit more expensive. This time we had booked all inclusive - it was worth it, only the foreign liquors cost extra, but that's like this everywhere.
The employees welcomed a tip, of course. How much you tip, you have to decide for yourself, but I think that you can really give them a € for good service.
Sport & Entertainment
At the pool there was only moderate entertainment, either some yoga or water aerobics - but it wasn't disturbing at all.
Enough pool chairs granted everybody a pleasant and relaxing stay at one of the two pools. There were also enough pool chairs with soft cushions on the beach in the laguna. You could get towels for free. There were also enough umbrellas available.
There were also public toilets nearby the pool. That they have to get cleaned once in a while is clear, and it got regularly cleaned, if it didn't look so clean sometimes, it wasn't because it didn't get cleaned, but because we toursits thought that we didn't have to keep it clean!
An important note for the bookworms: It was hard to buy maganzines in El Gouna and if you could buy them somewhere they cost 3 times as much as normally, please don't throw them away! There was a special corner in the hotel where you can leave your read magazines for the other guests to reat. It was in the enterance area just in front of the toilets of the pool, where you can find the pool towels. You could also find books there.
Room
The rooms were absolutely fantastic. We again got a room with additional living area (junior suite - upgrade - 20.00€/day), as well as a roof terrace of about 25 sq.m with view from the golf course to the ocean.
Air conditioning, telephone, minibar, safe, two tvs were standard (some international channels) - gernerous modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, hair dryer and bath robes.
The beds were comfortable and not too soft. Additionally, there were lots of pillows- from hard to soft - to your liking. The rooms were well-soundproofed, only when guests on the neighboring balcony displaced their furniture, could you hear that. There was nothing to complain about the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom.
Tips and recommendations
This was again a perfect relaxing holiday and we were not lacking anything. We used the shuttle service of the hotel (25€/person) and thus we were already at the airport 30 minutes after leaving the hotel. In the bus we even got cooled drinks. I would recommend to book a room with direct view of the laguna. There was cell phone signal, but it was very expensive. As there was a constant breeze in El Gouna, you should bring suitable clothes in the off-peak season, as it can get a little bit chilly in the evening (but not cold). We were satisfied with your whole holiday and think the price performance ratio is almost justified. We would surely be happy, if we could have all this for a little bit less money, but it was worth it price. Money exchange: There was a machine in the hotel where you could change money at any time of the day or night - money exchange without any problems. Our tip for smokers: buy cigarettes in any case at the supermarket - in the hotel a package cost about 1,88€, in the supermarket only 1,05€ - so it's worth going downtown or to Abu Tig. Our last tip: water bottles should be consumed within 2 days. Especially, when you take the bottles to the pool or the beach and they are exposed to extreme sunlight, your stomach can get upset - so after two days at the latest, buy new bottles of water - and if you book all inclusive you get water taken to your room daily - for free. Conclusion: We will definitely visit the Steigenberger Hotel in El Gouna again - and we will definitely book again with HolidayCheck.
