Relaxing, refreshing experience.
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThis is our first visit to Egypt and I was unsure of what to expect, this hotel is rated as 5* and in some areas this is the case but little things need to be updated in order for them to maintain this standard, never the less this was a very pleasant hotel with some excellent staff.
On entering the hotel the lobby is very inviting with professional and experienced staff. Check in was no problem and luggage transfer to the room was efficient. All areas of the hotel were very clean the only downfall was the work they were carrying out on one of the pools, although this caused no inconvenience to us and noise pollution was minimalistic, even though our room overlooked the work.
We are a young to middle age couple from the UK, we were on an all inclusive (ultra) basis and stayed for 10 nights. Having the choice of using the sister hotel for entertainment we did not feel as though we had to leave the complex in the evenings and used both lobby bars, Victoria pub and amphitheatre where there is a different show on each evening.
Location
The location of the hotel is on a quiet street but there are many options for shopping with the Senzo Mall just opposite. We did venture out to the shops across the road a couple of times and did not get to much hassle from the shop owners but there are plenty of shopping opportunities in both hotels but be prepared to barter. The hotel grounds are exceptionally clean and it is a nice stroll down to the beach, which is very well kept. We never struggled to get a lounger and the staff that work there are lovely and fetch you comfortable cushions. The opportunities for excursions are vast (budget allowing). We did 2 trips during our time and each was well worth the money. Luxor trip is a very long day but you really know you are in Egypt and looking back you visit so many famous sights in that 1 day. We also did the speed devil, sand buggy trip sunset tour. This was a great experience and the staff were really nice, answering my numerous questions on the desert. I also enjoyed the time at the Bedouin camp (be prepared to collect half of the desert sand, but well worth it). The hotel is situated about 15 – 20 minutes from the airport which is great after a long journey.
During our stay I found all the staff to be very friendly, polite and professional. I would like to give a big thank you to Haiba Mohammed he was the housekeeper of the block we stayed in, we could not get the heating to work on the first night and he sorted the problem out very quickly which I am grateful we had no problems with the room and it was always cleaned to a high standard. Thank You. We had no problems communicating with any of the staff and I even managed to increase my Arabic vocabulary to about 5-6 words.
Gastronomy
Well I am not the best person to comment on this section as I am very fussy with food. The staff in the restaurants were very kind, helpful and pleasant. I would like to say a big thank you to Victor Hossni who made sure my morning coffee cup did not run dry, he was always willing to help and took time to answer my questions. Also Mahmood the pasta chef he greeted everyone with a smile and made pasta without meat for me on most evenings. We did dine in all four of the A La Carts and found the Asian to be the best both in taste and service. I was not keen on the help yourself at dinner and often found a certain nationality to be very rude and abrupt with staff. Lunch was usually spent in the beach bar where there is a selection of salads, fresh pizza and a sandwich of the day.
Sport & Entertainment
As we had no children with us we did not use animation but there seemed to be a variety of activities on offer, from yoga, steps, darts etc. I did however use the spa facility and although rather pricey the experience was great. I had 2 treatments, Cleopatra and the Indian oil massage. The use of the steam room was great and just added to the relaxation I needed as always the staff were very professional and friendly particular thanks to sorry cant’ remember your name. (from Cairo).
As said the beach and pool area were very well kept and the towel man at the beach was lovely welcoming you with a big smile!!!
Most evening we spent in the lobby bar or the victoria pub and I would like to thank George and Sherif Ahmed for the excellent service they provided also there smiles, thank you!!
Room
The rooms are of a very good size and single beds are on the large side, thanks agaiin tho Haiba.
Tips and recommendations
When visiting Egypt in January make sure you take warm clothing for the evening. One excellent thing about this hotel is tips given are usually deposited into the tip boxes, I never received any bad service when not tipping directlty to the individual.
