Excellent Relaxing Hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe spent 11 relaxing days at the Sunrise Royal Makardi Hotel. We have stayed in Egypt 3 times now and have to say that this is the best hotel by far for amenities and services. The rooms where spacious and exceptionally clean as were all the communal areas.
The staff where exceptionally friendly and Mido from the entertainment (Animation) went out of his way to make you feel at home and comfortable.
We booked with Thomas Cook and did find the rep less helpful than we would expect and did have a few issues with the booking of trips, but of course this was nothing to do with the hotel itself.
We have previously stayed in Sharm where you can leave the grounds of the hotel and visit the local shops, but in Makardi Bay there is nothing outside the handful of hotels. So if you’re looking for the local Bazaars and pubs then I’d recommend Hurghadar itself. (Although you can pay a few euros to get the shuttle bus there.) The hotel does have it’s own shops and club/bar which are open every night. But these can not be heard from your accommodation and unless you’re looking for the club you’d not realise it was there.
All in all we loved our stay and if we are able too, would jump at the chance to stay in this facility again.
Location
Nothing in walking distance but the hotel had everything you need on sight and prices where not excessive.
They couldn't do enough for you. Always smiling.
Gastronomy
We only had the basic buffet package but this alone was great, with so many choices.
Sport & Entertainment
A ton of pools and most of them heated, which is great in Jan.
Room
We had a huge two bedroom sweet. We just couldn't find a fault.
Tips and recommendations
Ask the reps exactly what your trip is. We were sold a trip to Orange island which was beautiful, but only got to spend just under 2 hours there. We spent nealy 4 hours on the boat. Still a good day though but not if you just wanted to lay around on the beach.
