Ever since the town has grown tremendously and attracted many tourists, it became a travel destination for wealthy Americans. Port Antonio is known for its traditional banana and coconut trade. A custom in Port Antonio is to stroll along the “Musgrave Market” as this sells many local products. It is tradition to play reggae music in the city.

Port Antonio is a very accessible town within Jamaica, as everything lays very closely one can hire a bicycle or even walk to most sights. Within the city there is a bus transport which rotates in Port Antonio, the rail however is now abandoned as it was used in the past primarily for banana trades.
