Seefeld is a very old city existing since 1022, however tourism began only in the early 20th century and really boomed in the 1970s. In Seefeld the main attributes that make the area special are the different outdoor sports you can do, the relaxing environment and the unique sights. During the winter this area becomes a very popular ski/ snowboard resort attracting a large number of tourists yearly. Seefeld has a lot of cultural traditions which include the best known tradition in Tyrol the festival of the Sacred heart at which fires are lit in the mountains.

The closest international airport to Seefeld is in Innsbruck which is located about 20 minutes from Seefeld city center. At Innsbruck airport it is possible to rent a car which should be reserved in advance. It is also possible to take a shuttle transfer from the airport to various cities in Austria.
