German is the official language, although hotels and workers in the resorts will generally speak English.

Bodenmaisis a town where the climate is often used as a healing treatment with a mild climate in the valley, a strong climate in the highs, andpureness in the air. Mean annual temperature is 6°c, annualprecipitation is 1.251,4 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in July at134,6 mm, at its lowest in April at 85,7 mm.  There is a reliability of snow during the winter and is a great ski resort.  Currency The German currency is the Euro. The easiest way to get money is from ATMs, which are called “Geldautomat” in German.  

Visa requirements

You do not need a Visa when visiting Germany, just a valid passport and you areallowed to stay on vacation or business trip for up to 90 days.

Traditions and Culture

The glass making culture is prominentin Bodenmais as glass has been produced in the BavarianForest for centuries. As early as in the 15th century glasses, goblets and brilliant pearls have been created in the woody mountains beneath the Silberberg.Generations of gaffer families worked in the glass production and glass processing. The Bavarian Forest is is now a European center of glass manufacturing.

Sights

Probably the most interesting sight, other han the town hall, is the Silberberg Mine. The historic mine visitor center, deep in the heart of the mountain, is worth visiting. Bodenmais has become Germany’s largest glass refining centre and offers many glass-blowing factories which can be visited.

Food

Bavarian cuisine is simple, hearty andrustic. Most of the dishes are characterised by pork, wurst (sausages), Knödel (dumplings) and pastry.    Bavaria’s beer gardens are the best in the world. The beer garden season runs from May to October and you can taste some traditional German beer such as wheat beers from a “Maß” and “Radlers” ( light beer shandy).   Today, beer gardens also serve a range of hot and cold food such as “hendl” (barbecued chicken) or pork schnitzel.
