Lech am Arleberg is a mountain village extremely popular for its ski resort. Lech was founded by Walser migrants in the 14th century and until the 19th century was known as Tannberg. A known attribute to Lech is the church of St. Nicholas which was built around 1390 and is a parish church. Lech has a very long interesting history therefore one can explore the developed cultural scene by visiting churches and historic houses. A tradition in Lech is the “Lech village festival” which gives a contrast to the glamorous luxurious life by showing the authentic village life and traditions.
Getting around
By bus
The public transportation in Austria is well developed therefore when in Lech it is possible to travel via train or buses very conveniently. In Lech there is a local shuttle and bus service which rotates within the village enabling transport between the hotel and ski resorts.
By plane
The closest airport when travelling to Lech is Innsbruck located 120km away and Zurich airport (in Switzerland) located 200km away. Zurich airport has international flights coming in and out on a daily basis; therefore this would be the most recommended airport. It is possible to rent a car at one of the various car companies at the airport in Zurich which should be reserved prior to your arrival.
