About Lagos Lagos is a Portuguese city that belongs to the district of Faro. It is a major tourist city, but also has a history: in Lagos, they built the first building of slave trade in 1445 and it was the center of trade of exotic products such as ivory, gold or silver brought from Africa.

Lagos, or Lacóbriga, was founded about 2000 BC by Coni. After it was conquered by the Carthaginians, Romans, various barbarian groups and Muslims, it was finally reconquered by the Christians. From Lagos, many Portuguese vessels left to various parts of the world in the XV and XVI century. In fact, many of the sailors were famous in the history of Lagos (the most famous one was Gil Eanes).
