When I walk into a Conrad my expectations are very high, because the name alone is a commitment. The Conrad New York met my expectations in several points.
It's already started with the fact that I did not receive the requested room (I was in contact with the Director of Rooms about this). Instead of the Hudson River, I had an office block in front of my room. The room was OK, maybe even above average. But from a Conrad I simply expect more than just an 'OK room'. Definitely again, although not in the heart of NYC. The hotel is a very beautiful city hotel, but located very far Down Town. Not far from the finance district, good connection to taxi or metro. For a pure 'shopping trip' the hotel is rather unsuitable, since it was too far from the usual shopping places. The location is very quiet, the hotel itself very nice. This hotel is situated on the Hudson River and is ideal for relaxing after the hustle and the volume in the city. It has large rooms with separate living and sleeping areas. Towels are changed daily. Nearby is a large Bio market. The nearest subway is about 10 minutes walk away. West Street (parallel to the Hudson) has a very well constructed path to the roller-skating and bike riding. The hotel lies directly at the promenade of the Hudson River to Battery Park (only a residential street is between them). We had booked a room overlooking the Hudson River. Just amazing and for the usual background noise in Manhattan it is really peacefully located. The next subway station is about 8 minutes on foot, close to the WTC. So if you search for a hotel which is not in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but nevertheless centrally located, you are just right here! The staff was very friendly and helpful. than our room obtain an alarm, promptly sent soon, a staff solved the problem. We stayed on a bed and breakfast. The expectations were not very large, since we had heard many of the standard much worse than in Europe, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The breakfast buffet was great.
