Located in a superbly renovated historic building within the ancient walls of the medieval town, L’Antico Pozzo is the perfect backdrop for art lovers and travellers looking for sober and refined elegance. The peaceful and inspiring atmosphere of the hotel reflects the incomparable charm of the town that surrounds it.The building,now completely restored,preserves the original style of the 15th century, although the earliest part dates back to the middle ages and the founding of the town itself: traces remain of the well and the area around it. It was donated to a religious order who inahabited it until the end of the 17th century. It acquired international renown as a "salon"for the high society of the late 18th century. Festive gatherings and parties were held in the ballroom which is now the present "Pink Room" It is also said that girls who refused to submit to the "Droit de seigneur" were suspended in the well. Everything has been preserved or reproduced faithfully in order to maintain the charm of this superb town house intact.

  DIRECTIONS TO SAN GIMIGNANO N43° 28' 05" E11° 02' 30" The hotel is located in the historic center of San Gimignano right on the main street San Matteo. It is possible to access hotel by car anytime for unloading and loading luggage By car from the North on the Autostrada A1, exit at FIRENZE CERTOSA and then immediately enter Raccordo (blue sign SI-FI) to SIENA. After about 40km exit at POGGIBONSI-NORD and follow signs to San Gimignano,approx. 10km. By car from the South exit the Autostrada A1 at VALDICHIANA and drive towards SIENA. Near Siena follow signs to FIRENZE take Raccordo (blue sign SI-FI) Exit at POGGIBONSI-NORD and follow directions to San Gimignano. By train, get off at POGGIBONSI station, where you can catch a taxi or bus that leaves aprx. every hour. Please get off at "San Matteo".bus stop, which is the second one arriving in town only 80 mt far from the hotel
