The staff is anytime friendly and accommodating, the rooms were cleaned perfectly. English spoken.Breakfast and dinner were as a buffet offered. Presentation and selection was very appealing – particularly the direct to prepare individual expenses really impressed us. The delicious small desserts were each evening a highlight. There was also ice cream! We had a small, modernly furnished double room with bathroom and balcony. Facilities and optics at 4-star level. The view from the balcony is unforgettable. We were as a part of a round trip for two nights in the amaya hills building. The very well maintained facilities reminds optically at … read more

Information about Hotel Amaya Hills

Hotel own description

  • What the hotel offers
Built along the lines of a Kandyan Palace or Maligawa − Amaya Hills offers guests a breathtaking retreat that peers down into the verdant Hanthana mountains encircling the structure. Its idyllic setting makes it truly a palace of one’s own, nestled in picturesque hill tops of Kandy. Among the eco−friendly resorts in Sri Lanka, this four-star hotel is a tasteful mingling of the essence of Kandyan culture with the trimmings of contemporary luxury. The exquisitely designed rooms offer a feast for the eyes, presenting panoramic views of distant hills, lush valleys below and stunning sceneries beyond, while the interiors include entertainment systems, balcony sit outs and more. The Ayurvedic spa is where guests can enjoy pampering with a traditional touch at an exclusive resort in Sri Lanka. Savour authentic local and international cuisine against a backdrop of the descending sun while you enjoy a getaway in the island’s most picturesque city, making for one of the most memorable holidays in Sri Lanka.
  • Location
Transportation For guests travelling to Kandy upon arrival to the country will begin their journey from the Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) also known as Katunayake International Airport- the country’s only international airport at the moment. Katunayake is 35km North of Colombo. The distance from Katunayake directly to Kandy is approximately 82km and the journey should take approximately about an hour and 45 minutes in order for tourists to reach the hill capital. Services provided by the Hotel A taxi service to and from the airport can be arranged. Please ask the front desk for rates. Most major car rental firms operate at the airport. Car rental may also be organised by the front desk.
  • Accommodation
Drawing inspiration from ancient Kandyan architectural concepts and motifs, the 100 rooms housed at this four star hotel offers stunning views of the forest-covered hills of Heerasasagala and the scenic valleys beyond. From floor to ceiling, every room brings aspects of Kandyan culture closer to guests, reflecting a unique take on modernistic luxury interspersed with the local culture of the hill country. Rooms are accented by heavy wooden carvings - a characteristic trait among ancient Sri Lankan artisans. The painted symbols of the sun and moon that adorn the walls were considered as benefic symbols. A recurrent thematic element that is featured in each room are the colours of brick red, dark yellow and black that have been tastefully incorporated in even the smallest detail. Rooms and suites are spread across three wings. The junior suites include spacious bedrooms, a lounge area and a private balcony where guests can enjoy an intimate setting against the backdrop of the descending sun. The suites situated on the Uthara Prasad wing could be accessed from the lobby or from the pool area via a stone -built staircase with natural borders.
  • Food and Drink
Dine inside or take in the beautiful scenery that greets every guests just outside. The themes offer a tempting variety throughout the week – from the poolside barbecues, to Italian pastas to international cuisine. In the evenings, relax to the soothing ambiance of the mountain air while sipping a warm cup of local tea. If that’s not all, Amaya Hills offers the Dumbara Bar for a night out with delicious snack style menus and a selection of beverages.
  • Leisure
Located below the lobby level, the swimming pool offers a beautiful view of the rising hills that encircle this retreat. The pool is conveniently situated at the meeting point of the resort’s three wings. Sun lounges beside the pool are an invitation to a perfect reprieve for those in search of a quiet retreat and offers breathtaking views of the hills in the distance.
