we were three years ago stayed here before we have talked with a number of guests. Therefore, that one always' politically correct 'wishes, because it'Africa' is, the service. It is not a really good hotel. No towels one day (the maid was offended, when I pointed out to you), the other day no shampoo, the third day the or the body lotion. Set out in blocks, not overlooked, this sprawling hotel resort is a little piece of colonial heaven. Everywhere is clean and tidy, and has a friendly atmosphere from the moment you are greeted at reception. There are two types of board. B&B and half board.     The room was faultless. Twin beds, large wrap around balcony and great views. TV had several English channel and one dedicated to football. There was a walk in shower, bath with shower, safe, mini fridge, and tea and coffee making replenished daily. Air con was quiet and effective.

    You couldn`t fault the effort that the staff make to enhance your stay. Each and everyone of them did that little bit extra. We had a very diligent cleaner called Alf, who looked after our superior deluxe room. Well worth the upgrade as the wrap around balcony (Room 320) had great views of the immaculate gardens and the sea. We were originally put in the `Thomas Cook` block which overlooked the car park. It didn`t have a terrace or balcony, and directly outside was a high brick wall. After pestering the reception staff for several days, we were granted our wish and moved. The cost of the upgrade was £25 per night.

    A great beach front location, although the stretch of beach directly outside the hotel has become eroded through poor maintenance. A short stroll either side of the hotel, you will be greeted by clean soft sand. All your basic needs are catered for on the strip with several convenience stores dotted around. Many restaurants and bars to choose from, all very reasonably priced. directly outside the hotel is a large hut. This houses the local Gambian tour guides. We hired a guide and a taxi for half a day to go to the Serekunda craft market and a local school to drop off supplies. This cost us £20, and was well worth it. Step outside your comfort zone, and you will experience the real Gambia. A very safe environment, and everyone has a big smile on their face.

    There wasn`t an entertainment team, nor was there music blasting out to spoil your relaxation. Wifi could be connected to in reception and around the pool. There is a different access code for each. Beach towels were provided on production of a towel card, and plenty of free sunbeds were available throughout the day. not the normal bun fight to get one. The pool was warm, clean and inviting, and a locker room and showers provided.

    A vast array of food on offer for breakfast. A full English if you desired, along with a large selection of continental food. An egg station cooked fresh omelettes etc with fruit and cereal and a selection of pastries. You could have afternoon tea and cake in the restaurant from 4pm. A basic selection of food was served by the pool, all very reasonably priced and well cooked and presented. Various happy hours around the different bars take place from 6pm until midnight, with live entertainment provided.

The audience is generally from older ... couples, very rare with children, mainly british guests. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained.     The breakfast is very on the english visitor orientated, but the choice is large enough, so here everyone should find something, that he likes. However every day exactly the same. Fresh smoothies, pancakes and omelets. Very good was the bread, even whole wheat bread (freshly baked) and the croissants. A bit poor the selection of fruit, every day the same 5 sorts. For dinner in the hotel we went only once, at the di evening to Seafood buffet. (650.- Dalasi) the selection was not huge, the shrimps in cocktail-sauce just once empty, supplies none came. The rice was so hard cooked, that it is not food was. Very good, the dessert buffet and dance show. We ordered a bottle of wine and got to 2 different cocktail glasses, the corkscrew was broken. Also here a hole in the table cloth, on the napkin, and a waiter with a 3 centimeter long tear in the shirt. It is also not everyone thing, on the klebigen chairs of the pool bar evening meal.

    The hotel is directly at the beach, the plateau is every year small and increasingly from the sea earned. This year we had over sand bags to the water shin down. Also otherwise white sandbags as far as the eye can see, and the wretched rest of beach competitiveness, not exactly, what you from a beach holiday,. There was the beach this year very dirty, there were waste around, and the whole 14 days, we were there. (see photos!) Also the water on the edge a very sticky oil film, not at all inviting at the edge back einzusitzen. There was this year for fourteen days the red flag was raised and because of the high waves we could not even in the sea swim. In other hotels this was very well possible. We were told, that here a reef off the coast and it is relatively high waves comes. Supposedly drown here again and again tourists. The fence around the hotel is more of a gefängnisinnenhof, the barbed wire in many places broken and the torgitter rusty. Shame about the nice view on the sea! Around the hotel is the party of the gambia. Tons of restaurants and other local, 3 grocery stores, and some apparel stores. Also very many prostitutes, both male, as well as female. The access road from the police controlled, so that the whole not degenerates. We had only room with breakfast booked, and used the various catering trade offer very gladly. Especially recommendable the paradiso (pizza, pasta, african, international) and directly opposite the lebanese friday evening buffet in the al- basha (so evening barbecue isn't recommendable!)

    Of the savers rooms we would like to advise against urgently. These are very noisy at the hotel entrance. We had a superior deluxe room. These are in small houses (to ever about 8 rooms either ground floor or first floor in the park to find. Especially in the rooms the age the hotel noticeable. The rooms smell already very worn out and dingy. (have sprayed deodorizer and insect repellent very recommendable!) Also the rooms are very small. On arrival the safe not close (batteries empty), was the air conditioning broken. Due to a broken outlet broke me 1 pen from the plug the laptop from. Another broken outlet there was a short circuit and the handyladekabel was broken. The batteries in the remote control of the tv were empty, the mini bar not refilled. Every morning at 9 o'clock maid service, in order to the towels already taking. The linens were very yellowed and had again and again holes. In the bathroom lay with arrival of the soap holder canceled on the sink. After showering stood every time the half bath underwater, because of this the drain in the floor hochkam. The shower head was totally furred up, so that through the half of the holes no water came with already little water pressure. The water dropped occasionally again and again times. Then again the klosettdeckel broken.

    The staff is really very friendly, however the friendliness at the latest from the 3. day systematically after, when it no tip there is. At the beach and at the pool there was 1 hand towel and 1 mat for the pool chair for every guest. Without tip this is also sunday With tips there were 2 towels and 2 cushions. With a little more tips are even the chair after choice the entire vacation over reserved. This also the reserve of the chairs in the early morning, what we found pleasant. There are tons of chairs available and through the broadness the hotel also very lots of space and peace. At the pool boy gives it also german books to borrow or swap. For breakfast we have no tip given, which after a few days became apparent, the service it has become increasingly worse. In general for breakfast the tables sticky, the cloth napkins frayed, the dishes not match together and again and again with broken bodies. Many a time the coffee cups were dirty. All of us complained repairs were at least after the 2. complaint in progress, but somehow one on vacation not always want to complain about, however therefor there were because of the outdated room again and again reasons. As we had at 18 o'clock 30 to the airport picked up, we asked at the front desk after, whether we the rooms longer use. The answer: possible yes, but from 13 o'clock fall for it 10,00 Euro the hour, so 50,00 Euro. (two monthly salaries in Gambia!) Here was missing to us already somewhat the understanding. We also had the room on arrival only from 21:30 claimeth! Also, the exchange rate at the front desk fits into this picture. In the exchange offices in front of the hotel get on for 1€ 42 Dalasi, at the front desk it was only 33. And also the taxis directly from the hotel way costs three times! If you the main street runs ahead are tons of taxis. We paid to banjul 200 Dalasi, after serekunda 100 and for a whole day 1.500.

    Massagegirls drag from pool chair to pool chair and price the offer for. 50 minutes massage should be around 1,000. - Dalasi costs. (etwa 25,00 Euro) a masseuse deserves in the month of around 1,000. Fits in our opinion the relation not. The pool is alright.

The hotel is already somewhat older, but nevertheless in a very tidy state. The small age-related weaknesses are but due to the extreme friendliness all employees more than made up for it. For excursions you should either for organized tours or for a personal guide decide, so that the destinations in all peace see. Otherwise it helps in Gambia very, with a smile and a friendly word on the local people, more about the country and people to learn. Children are everywhere welcome and welcome and will be treated preferentially. If you have children with sweets, donate, Schreibblöcken, T-shirts or ... even with a ball presents, one gets except a kinderlachen also generally the warmth of the Gambian people present. The hotel is actually already some years old, but always very well maintained. Our deluxe room (712) was not huge but it was always cleaned well. Particularly beautiful is the grown garden area, in the afternoon a variety of monkeys romp around. The service was very good in all areas. In the immediate area there are some restaurants and bars, in which one good and inexpensive to meals can. The beach we didn't like it too much, as this is not so good for swimming is; the pool-area could however compensate. Also here was the service excellent. The loungers and ... cushions were very comfortable. Excursions you can on the tour operator or outside of the hotel on the native ones book. Everywhere English spoken and understood. The majority of hotel guests were English, the however not unpleasantly noticeable. The arrival outside the peak season was a bit tedious: from Frankfurt to Brüssel, from there-with stopover in Guinea-to Banjul.     This exquisite hotel is located in the middle of lush tropical gardens and miles of sandy beaches. It is 100 m from the nearest taxi rank, banks, restaurants and shopping outlets. Bijilo Forest Park is just 10 minutes by foot from the hotel. The hotel is half an hour by car from Banjul town centre and Banjul International Airport.
  • Guests can relax in the peaceful surroundings including numerous colourful birds and monkeys in the gardens. This charming family-friendly hotel has 151 rooms in total and is perfectly suited for conferences, banquets and weddings, which will leave long-lasting and pleasant memories. This air-conditioned hotel has a lobby with a 24-hour check-out service, currency exchange facilities, cloakroom, safe, mini market, restaurant, bar, café and car park. For an additional fee, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s WLAN Internet access and bike rental service as well as the room and laundry services.
