This lodge in the course of a jeep safari for one night visited. Appearances we loved this lodge better than the amboseli-Serena lodge. The rooms were altogether however a bit sober decorated and could not have the same flair As the rooms in the amboseli lodge unfold. The large highlight of this lodge is undoubtedly the artificial laid out waterhole directly in front of The main terrace and Zimmerterrassen. Simply great! Constantly alternated between the various Tiergattungen on waterhole with her visits from. Sometimes we had the impression, as would be everything to a road map from, so that the different species not in enclosure come. The staff … read more

  • Location
This lodge enjoys a superb setting in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, and is sheltered by the volcanic splendour of the Chyulu Hills. This classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own watering hole which is visited daily by elephants, buffalo and a wide variety of plains game. It is also ideally placed for visits to all the park's prime attractions, including The Mzima Springs, Shetani lava and caves, Rhino Valley and Sanctuary and the Roaring Rocks, which are all about an hour from the lodge. Nairobi is 3 hours' drive and it is about 280 km to Mombasa Airport.
  • Facilities
This charming eco establishment is one of the first lodges ever to be built in a National Park. It is cool, tranquil and has a hushed atmosphere which is optimum for game-viewing. The lodge comprises a total of 56 rooms including 5 suites and offers guests a restaurant on-site.
  • Rooms
The luxury en suite rooms are located either in a double-storey block overlooking the waterhole, in a series of cottages to the right and left of reception, or in a building dedicated entirely to the lodge's selection of luxury suites. Surrounded by shady gardens, all the rooms enjoy views, either of the waterhole or the Chyulu Hills. Each is tastefully-appointed and features natural volcanic stone walls, a king-size bed or luxurious twin beds and lavish, all-encompassing mosquito-curtaining. They all come with a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a writing/vanity unit and a private veranda. Guests will appreciate the Internet access and TV.
  • Sports/Entertainment
As for activities, the lodge offers numerous game drives, guided walks, bush breakfasts, volcano climbs and trips to Mzima Springs, a set of crystal-clear ponds, fed by the melted waters of Mount Kilimanjaro, in which the many hippos can be viewed from a submerged chamber.
  • How to get there
This lodge is located within the Tsavo West National Park (a short drive from the main Mtito Andei Gate), which lies 280 km from Nairobi. By road: transfers by road from Nairobi take approximately 3 hours. By air: the airstrip is less than 1 km from lodge, and a meet-and-greet and transfer service can be provided (guests are requested to let the lodge know their arrival time in advance).
