We have a 14-day tour and lots of hotels in the Oman seen. This was one of the highlights of, if not the highlight of our trip. Here you feel not as in a 2 star place, but in a camp with great flair. The large area has roughly 20-30 tents, all in generous far apart were rebuilt. Also there are two two-story houses on a sandhill, the for families intended. The tents are not lockable, so better all valuable articles with itself carry. In the half board are also unlimited water, soft drinks and coffee/tea included. Specially one pays ... only optional activities including camel riding (3 Rial for about 10 minutes), dune bashing (25 Rial for about 45 minutes) and other things, which we didn't use. The pool is a poisonous green, as someone said, but that is just the material and the color of the basin. The pool was absolutely clean and really nice. Just what you need in the hot desert, if you are staying for more than a pure night comes. The majority of tourists arrived in the afternoon and drove in the morning again. If you, as we two nights was, you had the late morning until the afternoon nearly for itself alone. There is the pool really welcome. The restaurant is open, there was one area with chairs, benches and tables, as well as an area, where one traditional arabic on the floor can sit. We have the latter use. Clearly the carpets here and there a bit dirty, but the did not bother us. The restaurant is at least open and when we were there, it was on the 2. evening very windy. There remains a little sand from outside simply not good enough. About the location. If you into the desert drives, you should no restaurants or shopping opportunities in the area expect. For us was the location great. The camp is situated on a level between two dunes-comb. You can in the dunes up climbing and the sunset (but not to the horizon, since before further dunes come). You really is in the middle of nowhere, if you are 20 minutes away from the camp in the dunes moves. Great flair! The highlight for us was, that the 2. night in the form of an extra for us developed zelts booked. In concrete terms this means, that in our 2. day in the morning for a tent about 3 kilometer from the camp was set up. Here you will be gone and generally with breakfast and dinner catered for. Also you got here sufficiently cold and hot drinks. You are here in the middle of the dunes and perfectly for oneself! This is brilliant and we can recommend it to anyone, even if it is very expensive. We have directly on the homepage of the camps and were highly satisfied. Unfortunately we had the bad luck, we exactly on the day a strong wind had, the us benefit from up there somewhat soured. We had therefore better than expected but the camp meals, after it picked us up. Look at the photos! Without wind it would be absolutely perfect. Still a tip to the journey. There are ' freelancers' through the area, the you to the camp accompany want. Us is it even happens, that the gas station in the air vent as hotel staff convinience and said, it will anyway to the hotel, we can simply consequences. We then in the hotel called and experience, that this man no staff of the camps is. He would have us then money will be charged. Also on the way one again and again of cars stopped and one suggests, that soon a dune and you have a guide need. I would with any on a conversation and the signs to the camp consequences. It is a normal jeep without any problems feasible. You need a gps or great off-road experience. On the final day we had the dessert crossing after qihayd additionally booked. One drives with a escort vehicle about 2,5 hours through the whole desert. You additionally get to see, but worth it the price not. The desert of al mintrib to the camp and shortly afterwards is much more interesting than the often wide areas, the one further south looks. But i think 250 Euro we would not again pay. Without any doubt we would go back to the 1000 nights camp travel. Do not be afraid, directly at the camp to book. Has email everything worked fine and you need nothing anzuzahlen. read hotel review

The 1000 night camp (1000 nights camp) is a tent camp in the wahiba sands. Furthermore there are two so-called luxury sand houses with ever 2 suites. These houses is possible somewhat remote from camp center. We had a room in one of these sandhouses booked, which with our arrival evening a total stroke of luck was, as it thundered and flashed and poured and poured for hours as from buckets, which in the wahiba sands an extremely rare event is. But of course the numerous tents, from which the camp to the main thing is, not designed. So we ... became the few guests, which the night on dry mattress in a romantic, really arabic designed suite with private bathroom spend could. In the center the hotel is an airy, spacious, in arabic style furnished restaurant. Grilled outside and attractive side dishes and desserts, there are inside at the buffet. The giftgrüne water of the pool we have no foot reingehalten and in our opinion there is also no pool in a camp in the middle in the desert - probably well intentioned but completely missed it. A stay at the 1000 nights camp in the middle of the sand dunes is created for it, the special atmosphere of the desert for experience and this of course at night as well (if it is because it's not raining ☺. We would come back any time here station and from the very nice staff to spoil. A comment in conclusion to all discerning highclass- hoteltouristen the camp has two (!) Stars (2 star). Together with the beauty of the desert, stay in the camp still to unique experience. Ps: our rating in relation to room and bathroom is the luxury sandhouse. read hotel review

Lounges with carpets (barefoot to celebrate) are extremely neglected and dirty. Would you vacuum, then everything would be more or less okay. A great shame! Outdoor area as on picture-wonderful - nice ambiance; friendly staff; Dining area dirty especially on the floor; camp anyway not really in the dunes, however rather in dünental. - not so open and nice as in soussovlei Namibia - sunset is virtually impossible to see. read hotel review

Breakfast okay because of omelet; dinner not really obvious, since almost no light; if you are not the 1st is, in the worst case rather for a long time in 2 rows queue. Cleanliness restaurant on floor questionable-everywhere leftovers on the floor; aussmass you can see especially on the next day if most gone. Is not? Vacuumed or every few years-shame otherwise nice; Other problem is, that with strong wind in the evening the entire restaurant attracts and nowhere sit protected; would you jealosien as in the südeuropäsichen countries and at least 1 page runterlassen, would be the problem solved.

In overgrown dünental, therefore, view not really great (comparisons Namibia soussovlei ); 1) since the other raha camp at the end of the valley, the 100 nights camp in the peace greatly reduced. Disappointing. The driver of the raha camp are half the night in the dunes and in the early morning on around in the sand dunes; they give warning shots from if procedure? Or in the sand were... Noise, partially also with the knattermopeds (dune bashing). You not in the desert - so nothing for peace seeking! 2) directions for drivers difficult: not because of the driving but because of the orientation. After deflation in the Toyota Landcruiser on half of the reifendrucks, in other words 1.6 atü one must after paved streets still approximately 5 kilometer on a normal schotterpiste driving until you plateau reached (before it goes the dunes steep high); really careful and 2 signs the there are trust and above all consequences : that means it is the sanddüne actually sharp left up (and really sharp left, you will see hard-so head shall apply, otherwise you think it goes on the left of the front of the high); if passage discovered, then at full throttle in 2. or 3. course with 4 times d car the old high-then the worst already managed, if not through different car blocked and to stop forced to. Our problem was, that we 2 pm but not in the convoy at 4:30 pm waiting wanted and not on the plateau to stop, to the location better to check. We also had the bad luck, that only 2 crazy jeeps in basin were, the de dunes perpendicular before us hochdonnerten, which is almost not possible, except for extremely landcruisers. Afterwards made the driver a fun and drove actually completely wrong the way back to the camp up. So we were in this momemnt confused and chose instead the supposedly lighter option from the basin out-so right around and followed other autospuren. Thereby we ended up but promptly in the wahibasands -a relatively fatal error. As you in these deep sand tracks gathered probably stuck, if one stops and then again starts, we were forced to 80 kilometer per hour in other words full throttle to drive. After about 40 kilometer still no camp or anything else in sight came we could finally on flacherem harder surface in the u-turn at high speed turn. This approach would probably directly to the indian ocean run. Luckily we safely out without towed or otherwise any autoschaden-was but nevertheless delicate, since car almost fallen at 2 places.

The camp offers more tents than expected. Quite busy-most however probably only for one night. Rooms are sufficiently equipped and relatively clean. Beds however very differently: 1 time completely worn out with kuhle and the other is pretty good. Nevertheless the ceilings and cover in the end, it was okay. Bathroom minimalist but sufficient and in the open (brings cool purely which is nice. A shame that there is no umbrella or canopy in front of the tent, you can after 9 am no longer there, since too hot.

For selbstbucher strange, there is nowhere the usual information-sheets are, what you could do. (was only on the internet and you need a leader-visit of berbers have etc.) But no matter, since anyway too hot.

  • Sport & Leisure
    2.0

Pool the poisonous green-people went but inside. There were no dead; Entertainment in the evening - 5 people the drums and singing in the restaurant - took some getting used to-you may make more draus for example with bonfire

We were one night in the 1000 nights camp can definitely recommend it. Brilliantly located as long as the solitude the desert loves, absolute silence ( the noise nuisance, in a preliminary report is described, we have never experienced something like that), stars as one it otherwise never see. The tents are relatively large, the mattress rather uncomfortable, for one night however perfectly adequate. The bathroom small and under the open skies (we had a tent with a separate bathroom, what is very recommendable). The tent was a spray to kill off of cockroaches and other insects-I was a little ... concerned, however I during our stay except for flies no bugs noticed. During the day it is in the tent was unbearably hot, in the evening and pleasant at night ( November), the bed linen is fresh, the blankets adequate. Evenings there is a buffet al fresco, the food was very tasty, the selection was good. Dinner is served in a covered, however open eating area, with carpets designed-very atmospheric, I can think of however imagine, that wind very drafty is. The arrival is adventurous. At the Shell-gas station you can get yourself at a machine the barometric pressure of the tire blow off as recommended. We are ourselves into the desert hineingefahren without convoy, only with the directions of the camps was armed. At the start everything is very simple, since schotterpiste. After several kilometres after raha camp then only sandy runway leading. The way is very well out-described, there is not too much worry, about all 1000 meters a sign, that one is right. We have unfortunately the mistake made a few meters secluded from piste stehenzubleiben a photo shoot. Despite great car we are stuck and had of a subsequent car pulled are. Have to say that we at all no experience had with drive in sand. The next day we booked in the camp an omani, the with us and our own car into the desert hineinfuhr (1 hour - 30 Euro), a real adventure which you every with krisensicherem stomach recommend (not for anyone slightly bad), we drove partly itself and our guide, to how to properly on sand runs. The return from camp to the street was afterwards even not a problem more. All together really one of the most beautiful accommodation on our Oman-round trip. read hotel review
