Nice hotel stay ruined by terrible staff

My gf and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend. We had driven up from Toronto. The only 2 parking options are a municipal public parking lot and valet parking which actually isn't owned or run by the hotel but they imply differently. We chose the valet parking because we assumed there would be some security there however that is not the case. When checking out we noticed that everything in the car was rifled through and thrown on the floor with some items stolen. The lock wasn't picked and there was no damage to the car at all. ... When we reported the issue to the valet parking service and the hotel they did nothing to try and help, pointed fingers at each other for the issue and blamed us for leaving something in the car. Upon talking to the valet further it turns out that in the past month 4 other cars were broken into with items stolen. There is no gated entry, it's wide open and anyone can walk around and help themselves to the car. We have no evidence of who broke in the car but we find it suspicious that the car was not broken into. The valet attendant also told us that the hotel is aware of the issue and implied that no one is really doing anything about it. The hotel itself is nice and in a good location but if you are driving to Montreal I recommend you use the municipal parking(cheaper and looked safer) or stay at a different hotel like the Sheraton that actually has their own secure parking lot. If anything does happen to your car the hotel will refuse to help in any way. read hotel review

Stayed for six nights this month while attending a conference at the same hotel. It is a large hotel which has seen better days in the past, but is now aged and in desperate need of a renovation. The conference facilities are ok. It is very centrally located, making it easy to access all the important areas of the downtown. St Catherine's St. is very close by with all the shops. The room was OK in size, but with two queen size beds it felt very tight. The room itself is also very dated. The curtains are dirty, obviously have ... not been washed in year. There was a lot of dirt on top of the tables and cabinets, and even on the cans of potato chips. Things get even worse in the lobby where one would expect a lovely clean welcoming lobby in a Fairmont. The carpets are very old, and look filthy. The sofas in the lobby are so old. I don't think it costs so much to put new sofas in the lobby to make it more inviting. The surprising thing was also the charge for wifi. I was lucky to have been provided wifi by the conference organizers. read hotel review

Very well known hotel within Montreal and prior to my stay I had high expectations. The decor of the room and the lobby was extremely dated (think 1960's) and they put me in a "smoking room" which smelt horrible. The bathtub was dirty and the bathroom in general was not very nice. read hotel review

Very center location, strong services and very clean and nice room although classic decoration (not modern). Staff is highly classy, trained and professional and very helpful and polite. Food and other hotel services are top class. read hotel review
