…  read hotel review

Nice hotel on the north side of city center. There doesn't seem to be much right around the hotel, It's an easy tram ride to Central Station. The rooms are spacious. The gym area is bigger than in most hotels, and we made use of the sauna area one morning which was very relaxing. read hotel review

Excellent hotel with good service ad an convenient spot! The hotel is in front of a tram-stop. You could even walk to the train station (15min). The tram takes you in five minutes to the central station were you can easily transfer to the city center, trains, and the train to Amsterdam airport. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. You always get a room with a view! For kilometers you look over the city and the water. At the other side of the hotel the boat/cruise terminal is situated. The staff is friendly-made, in a good way. The breakfast ... is a must do! Fruits, salads, bread, hot meals, for everyone there's a choice. read hotel review

Great hotel at the Amsterdam cruise terminal. Great rooms with views of the water and the cruise ships. The bathroom is large, the shower cubicle tiles properly laid out and framed in glass — extremely classy. However, the glazed entrance door to the bathroom could not be closed (the only drawback — no privacy even when using the toilet). Breakfast buffet was proper, but due to the size of the hotel the ambience breakfast room was similar to that of a train station concourse (extremely noisy and uncomfortable, at least in the front area). Wide selection of baked goods, fresh ... fruit, flour and egg dishes, cereal, large selection of sausages, fruit jams, fish etc. Express check-in/check-out, service staff very friendly. Gym with good, new equipment, very clean and tidy, great sauna (Finnish sauna and bio sauna), decent shower area with a great ice machine. Bathrobe sauna flip-flops are delivered to your room upon request. Location ideal for a city trip, AMS Centraal in 10 minutes on foot, shuttle available free of charge from the hotel. International hotel guests, appeals to a large number of guests who come with the cruise ships. read hotel review

From its appearance the hotel is mediocre, but it is not that bad, but nothing special. The Mövenpick in Berlin was 100 times prettier and more stylish. There were very many older people at hotel, and very few young guests. Because of the cruise ships the front desk is sometimes very busy. We had a quiet room on the 10th floor at the end of the Ganges this was really quiet, with a great view of the harbor and the city. We were able to sleep in a really long time. The air conditioning is quiet and you can pop ... open a window, but there isn't much air. The curtains are super thick, so that you can sleep in. The decor is completely okay and the bathroom is also quite modern. The room has a dark brown carpet, which was not vacuumed in the five days that we were there. Our room service was very nice, but for a 4 star hotel unfortunately it was not as thoroughly taken care of. Every day it was something else. The first day we were missing a towel, the second day it was a sticky table top. (sticky because of drinking glasses) and the kitchen towel was left on a cabinet. The next day the coffee cups were not washed and the coffee wasn't restocked. A night shirt was left carelessly in a corner. It was nothing terrible, but for a 4 star hotel it wasn't good enough. We were excited about the breakfast buffet but we were very disappointed. The breakfast room is noisy, hectic and has also no cozy separators. The racket and chaos surrounding the breakfast buffet has been better solved by other hotels. The cafe au lait came without foam and we could have gotten the same thing from a thermos. The juices were not fresh and the scrambled eggs were totally mushy. The muesli was hidden between the carrots and tomatoes and the omelet was not cooked through. A shame for 50 € for two people. I had expected better. One week ago we were in Leonardo in Munich. The buffet was really great and the curtains between the individual seating areas made it very comfortable. The staff was also relaxed. It is in the same category with other four stars, but worlds apart. The jam was by Mövenpick, even the yogurt was in plastic cups with lids. The good thing was the selection of breads and the many choices of nuts for the cereals, fresh strawberries and plums. Too bad, luckily we didn't have the breakfast for all 6 days and we spent the next few days having breakfast at Bakkerswinkel and it was really yummy. Great homemade jam, homemade bread and rolls, tasty cereals and coffee with foam. Also the omelets, sandwiches and cakes there were simply ingenious. One day we went to Greenwoods. That place was delicious, muesli with fresh raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, and delicious honey-topped rolls with goat cheese. The location of the Mövenpick is great and for that reason we would chose it again. The view from the 10th floor in the morning or also the night-time view of the city is fantastic. When the large cruise ships reach to the 10th floor right next to the hotel, then its impressive. You can even look in the pool and see the wall-sized tv. The tram is almost right in front of the hotel and there is a very good connection to the airport and there are connections to the trams that go all over Amsterdam. A train every ten minutes, this is ideal. The room and elevator key (you can only take the elevator by using your room key) didn't work for three of the six days and we were left standing outside the room oder in the elevator and it didn't work. Then we had to go back and get the card reprogrammed. Very annoying when we were on the tenth floor and somebody else put their card in the reader and we had to walk the long corridor and then we had to go the ground floor again because our card didn't work. That was the same with the other guests, we were told on the first trip. The statement of the hotel that it was my cell phone's fault can't be true because my phone was turned off the whole time, and during the first days were weren't in any department store which could have affected the phone. Since we only took carry-on luggage, I left my shampoo at home. Unfortunately in the hotel there was only a shower gel and lotions. in other hotels you get an shampoo, in the Leonardo even toothpaste. read hotel review

The rooms are large and well laid out. The bathroom is also nice and big enough. However, the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. I had room 917, and there were a number of large stains on the carpet. Once, outside the room, the leftovers from a neighbor's dinner lay there on a tray for two hours(!). We were there for the Inter Clean Fair, so we do know the difference between clean and not clean. Compliment: kettle and free coffee in the room!

  • Service
    3.0

During check-in, we didn't feel welcome. The staff was very aloof and, in my opinion, that is not appropriate for such a hotel (Mövenpick). This has also been confirmed by previous comments on this page...! I'm curious to hear the standard response by the Head of Service/Director!

  • Gastronomy
    4.0

Breakfast buffet around €24.80, if booked additionally on site. A little cheaper with a room upgrade. However, it is not worth it. I have had much better breakfasts in cheaper hotels. But the choice is very large, and there was something for everyone...
