Excellent hotel, inflexible rules

The hotel gives a solid relaxing experience, rooms are clean, the river view is great if you get a room with a view. The food quality is excellent. The prices are reasonable. Communication (underground) is ok - the hotel is rather far away from the city centre, but I would gladly trade away the proximity for the experience - with the river view, fresh rooms and excellent food. However rates are inflexible, room prices can wildly fluctuate depending on the check-in date and *not* depending on the length of stay. For example, booking 20-27 Mar might give me a rate ... of €170/night, while booking 21-27 would give a rate of €120 for the same room per night, all nights charged the same price in both cases. So, for example, if you would book 20, 21-27 as two bookings - that would give €890, and if you would book 20-27 straight away, that would give a price of €1190. The staff would normally would not negotiate prices, even if the hotel is visibly under-booked with lots of free rooms, and when I was asking, all they could offer are the web site prices, which I could have booked myself without any help. Judging by the facial expressions of those hotel clerks I talked to, they are likely either unable to take these decisions or otherwise very reluctant. Internet in the executive lounge is unusable, very slow. And if you happened to enter the free code in the lounge, you are locked into the slow speed for that computer, even if you pay a €20 upgrade (that's what it costs per day). Another complaint is about the very poor taste in music which plays all across the hotel, including all corridors, lounges, bar and restaurant. If you are not in your room, it's practically impossible to escape it. The last time they were playing some cheap Italian 1970s mainstream pop with the questionable track selection. A year ago they were playing some poorly produced pseudo-jazz mixed with cheap lounge music, and a year before that something quite hideous as well. Independently what they choose, it's consistently bad every time. It's ok if you don't pay attention, but if you have an intense conversation with a colleague or trying to concentrate reading the business reports, this kind of music gets in the way. At least in the executive lounge I would very much prefer silence or (if it needs to be anything but) - a non-distracting classical, mild chamber or piano music playlist, which is how many other top class hotels do it, and which is universally accepted by everyone. read hotel review

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere as far as the visitor to Vienna is concerned. There is nothing of interest in the immediate area, and for shops and restaurants you need to go further. However, there is a subway (U-Bahn Stadion) station reachable by foot. It is mainly meant for those with own car or those who don't mind spending money on a taxi. The property itself conforms to the usual Hilton standards, well kept and very clean. Our room had a large work desk with a desk lamp, which is great if you need to do some ... real work. It was a particularly cold day in Vienna, but the room was pleasantly warm when we entered--we didn't have to wait for it to be heated. The beds were also very comfortable. However, our experience was ruined by a totally rude and unprofessional front desk manager (not the same person who did the check-in) who threatened us and the young children who were with us while we were unloading our car and getting it ready to park in the hotel's garage, for which they charge 19 Euros a day. We tried to speak to a higher-up, but couldn't get anyone, perhaps because it was a state holiday. We never got an apology. I later wrote to the Hilton headquarters with a complaint and finally got an apology, but nothing else, not even a token HHonors points awarded for the inconvenience and for spoiling a special New Year's outing. It was really just "sorry, better luck next time," nothing by the way of at least a formal gesture to make us feel better about Hilton. We will definitely not be back to that particular Hilton property, and the experience makes me reconsider may longtime loyalty to Hilton in general. read hotel review

We stayed in Vienna Hilton Waterfront during our trip to Austria and Hungary. We very enjoyed the river-view from this Hotel and the outside territory. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers and for touristic city-viewers. p.s. You should spend at least one evening in lounge zone to see the night Vienna. read hotel review

Very nice hotel, located directly on the Danube. Super view! Large rooms. We had access to the executive lounge on the 8th floor and also took our breakfast there. Excellent buffet. The in-house restaurant is also highly recommended: top food, cooked to perfection. The hotel is located just outside the city center, therefore a car/taxi is needed. Very recommendable! read hotel review

Never again Hilton Danube in Vienna. The carpet in the room was not vacuumed. A vacuum handle and other dirt were still on the floor. In the bathtub there was still long hair. You can expect a lot more from a 4 star hotel. Each hotel we have ever visited, whether in Spain, Egypt or Turkey, was clean. It was positive that we could move to another room immediately. The long and dark corridors smelled musty and there was a used toothpick and wrapper on the floor. read hotel review

It's hard to give a straight note to this hotel. On one hand it's quite nice - nothing superb in design, but very correct, not tired, very clean and well maintained. Rooms are spacious and half of them have river view. Location is not very central, but metro is 10 min walk away. Breakfast is very good - selection of vegetables, fruits, fish, meats, warm courses, healthy options. Really great. They have very nice lounge with excellent service (especially the guy of Chinese origin - very polite and helpful). Very good evening snack with 2 warm courses, selection of finger ... food, and wide selections of alcohols, incl. proseco. The only thing I didn't like is that they are very formal in following all rules. We've booked this hotel in 4 people, mainly because 2 of us are Hilton Gold and Diamond and we wanted lounge access. At the arrival my friend with Gold status was placed in standard room and because it wasn’t executive floor, without access to lounge. At the same time other friend with blue status was placed in executive room, but without lounge access, as she was Hilton Blue. I don't understand this logic. After negotiations we got lounge access, but you need really to discuss hard for such things. I wanted also to take a breakfast in restaurant downstairs and even though such note was made at check in, I was told afterwards, I need to pay for it. So again clarifications and discussions. Sometimes for really loyal guests it's good to bypass slightly some small policy restrictions and make exceptions, what will make those people coming back to your hotel. read hotel review
