Hotel Heathrow Airport - cabin hotel

This is a cabin hotel - good if you need to get some sleep before or after a flight. That's about it - you can get some food and tea is free, but the purpose is to get some sleep before a flight. The connection to other terminal (Yotel is in terminal 4) is a bit of a pain - bus that takes about 20min to T5, at least it's free, Heathrow Express is also available, but it's not running in early hours of the morning. I had a good sleep and the price was very good too. read hotel review

Not bad for a layover!

Excellent option if you have a layover at Heathrow. I landed late one evening and my next flight wasn't until the morning so I reserved a private room. Hotel Yotel charges by the hour so they will ask you to approximate your arrival/departure times so they can offer you a rate. They also offer shared rooms or private rooms, I opted for a private room. It's a small room but that's to be expected and really isn't a big deal as I just wanted a place to crash for the night. Overall room was in good shape. Bed was a ... fine size and comfy. Room was clean and bathroom area was quite large. There is also an excellent English bar right outside the hotel yotel so if you're a bit hungry, you can walk over and get some traditional English food and beer. Nice stay at The Yotel! read hotel review

Inside Heathrow terminal 4 but room too warm

I had a flight from Heathrow and was looking for accommodation as close to the airport as possible. I'd heard about the Yotel which sounded an interesting and novel take on a hotel and was smack bang inside Terminal 4, so I booked a standard room for £49 (arriving 20:30 and departing 09:30 - you have to choose the times yourself). The hotel is easy to find - just follow the signs in T4: from arrivals, head upstairs at the far end of the hall. I arrived on time and checked in at the manned desk. Free unlimited ... tea and coffee was available from The Galley (i.e. reception) but I didn't partake of this. The hotel is very stylised, with the corridors and rooms bathed in a reddish pink light. It has a feel of being on a ship. I was assigned Cabin 26 which is the furthest room from reception, on the ground floor. The room is very small but that was to be expected. The small bathroom is on the left as you go in. The bed is actually installed inside the wall on the right, in your own cubbyhole, so you have to climb in. The ceiling inside the cubbyhole is quite high so don't worry about being cramped. There's a TV screen inside as well, so it felt quite cosy. I wouldn't have minded the size of the room if it weren't for other problems. The main issue I had was the high temperature which made it impossible to sleep. I hadn't tried any of the other cabins as this was my first visit, so I can't say whether this was an issue in the other rooms. I got up late in the night to ask if I could change my room but they had none available. There was also a regular noise that sounded like a sliding door closing - but I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It was unfortunately very loud and kept me awake. The pillow was very thin and not pleasant to sleep on so I asked for a replacement, which was better. Despite the lack of sleep I found all the staff to be courteous and polite throughout my stay. Unfortunately getting some sleep was the main thing and it didn't work out. It was explained to me that the air conditioning infrastructure they have is shared with the terminal’s infrastructure which is slightly out-dated and caused the heating issue. In the end the hotel gave me a full refund after a sleepless night, which was pretty decent of them. The other reviews here are positive so perhaps there've been some changes since my own stay. read hotel review
