Contrary to some other negative comments, it was a good, cheap, nice and clean hotel! The food was super delicious and varied! Everything was clean and the changing worked great. We had a room with sea view and a small window so we couldn't air conditioning always for a pleasant room temperature in our room concerns. Everything was great! …  read hotel review

We were there for a week and initially very disappointed. But is this, because everything is a something to get used to. The room itself was acceptable but the bathroom was rather dirty and unkept. The decor is very old, but it was enough to sleep and shower perfectly. One could eat the meal also, diarrhea or vomiting either, just a bit greasy/oily. But there is something for everyone. The staff was always friendly and understood German and English. The …  read hotel review

Absolutely OK for a low budget hotel!

The Hotel looks nice at all. It's located in a smaller street, so no traffic noise or anything. There is rooms with garden view and sea view, we had a room with sea view and a nice balcony, wich was nice! It was also nice that there was free WiFi in the lobby and a flatscreen-TV in our room! The Hotel has a pool and a poolbar. The guests are from different countries (mostly from Russia and Germany). During the night it was most of the time quiet or not too loud so we could find some good sleep. Our ... room was clean, but we found an old tissue under the bed (it looked like a male used it for. urgh, yes.) and some smaller dirt in the bath but in the end it was absolutely OK. read hotel review

We had halfboard, wich was good because - as i said - going out in a restaurant for dinner is nearly impossible. At Hotel Galini you have a buffet. For lunch it was always the same: White bread, grey bread, eggs, beans, non-tasty mortadella, tomatoes, margarine, marmelade, nutella, non-tasty cheese, cereals, honey, coffee, tea, "juice".. Every day the same, no Salami, no Feta, no greek Olives.. You won't stay hungry but you will get bored of it and it's not that nice. I would give 2/6 stars for the breakfast. For dinner it was.. puuh... what to say? Maybe i call it "international cuisine". The salad-buffet was ok, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, onions, really tiny olives (why that galini? you're in greece, get normal olives!). The warm meals we're mostly semi-warm but ok.. u have 5 boxes with no signs what it is so u have to guess. There was no big diversity. On one day you have, Pasta with some tomatoes, cooked Vegetables, turkey meat, french fries, goulash.. The next day u have bolognese linguine, roated vegetables, weird fish filets, cooked potatoes, lamb chops.. And so it goes on.. u have NO Souflaki, greek cheese, Kebab and other nice greek cuisine. This is one of the biggest Minuses for the Hotel Galini. HELLOOO, AGAIN, WE'RE IN GREECE, MAKE NICE GREEK FOOD! the cook is nice and friendly, and some of the meals are OK, other meals are unsalted, swim in oil and taste boring. One day in the premixed-salad was some chopped mortadella from breakfast. Why are they doing this? Who eats salad with mortadella?! What u can do is take some pasta, some onions and potatoes from the salad bar and "make" your own pasta - which worked fine. The room to eat has a nice view (but the windows are dirty so u cant enjoy the view fully). We drank every a day a Fanta lemon for 2 euros each - which was some cheap greek Fanta replica-, the waiter knows that and was uncomfortable but it was not up to him - he is a nice guy who tries his best. SO: You won't get sick from the food, the hygiens seem ok. But tasty and good is different. In one week there were maybe 2 or 3 days where we enjoyed it, in the other days we were eating because we were hungry. I think the boss of the hotel should talk to his cook and make a new food plan with greek specialities then there would be more stars in this rating!

We had booked a room with balcony and sea view and even had a flatscreen TV in our room, which was great! The cleaning service was ok, but not good, the room big enough. The bed was a little small for two persons but ok. The matress was quiet hard, so i adjusted the slatted frame by myself. If you want an aircondition, a fridge or a safe in your room you have to pay it extra.

POOL: At the hotel you have a small pool for kids, a normal pool (maybe 12 by 5 meters), a poolbar, a billiard-table, airhockey table, sunbeds, shower. If you want to sunbath and take a bath in the pool from time to time, it's all you need. It's mostly clean and nice and overall OK. At the poolbar u have music in the evening and the barguy is really friendly, prices are ok. So here 4/6 stars. BEACH: We were at the beach every day (because we don't know why people are flying 1000s of miles to the sea just to sit at the pool but hey it's okay.. ). Nearby (10 mins walk) u have one smaller and one bigger beach in Anissaras. Some longer walk away you have other smaller beacher, but we didn't want to walk that far. First to say: ALL the beaches in greek are public, so you can go on the beach wherever u want, big PLUS! The sandy beaches are quiet clean, it's really hard to get into the water because of some bigger rocks in the water but you will find your spot. The water is really clean and really nice! At the beaches we haven't seen sunbeds to rent. There were only a lot of sunbeds of the hotels, from 1 pm the beaches were really empty so we just took some - one time a staff from a hotel told us to give back the sunbeds, the other days we just took it and didn't care. From 1 pm it's no problem at all to take the sunbeds from the hotels because -as i said- because the beaches are empty and no staff is looking for their sunbeds. Even greek inhabitants took them and didn't care. Big Minus that there were no sunbeds to rent. As i mentioned u have only one small shop with ice, crisps, coke, water etc.. and that's it. I didn't see a public toilet - though there were some signs.. weird. but take this into your calculation before you start to the beach from the hotel. In the hotels at the beach it's mostly russian tourists, some of them drink a lot and so on, which is a minus for me. The weather, the sandy beach and the water are really nice, so here 5/6 stars.

The staff is awesome, they are always trying their best and are willing to help with everything!!! Lucy (at the reception) is great, as well as the waiter, the guy at the poolbar and the cook! They are the biggest Plus for the Hotel Galini, always friendly, always willing to help! They speak english, i think german too, and surely some basics in other languages! They are always trying to make your stay as pleasant as possible! The problem is that they can't change everything in this cheap hotel because of money or whatever.

The Hotel is located ca. 20 km from the Heraklio Airport. We took a taxi, wich cost like 40 euros in one direction. The price would be ok for a country like Germany, USA or England, for greek standard it's too expensive in my eyes, but ok.. There is also a bus going from the Airport to Hersonissos via Anissaras (Hotel Galini), but the bus stops at the main street, then you would have to walk like 1 km with your luggage.. too much for us, so we took the taxi from the airport. The Hotel is located between this main street and the beach in a quiet environment. Anissaras is just a settlement of hotels and apartements , there is a few supermarkets , one souvenir shop, 2 or 3 restaurants and thats it. There is no place to "go out" or take a walk in the evening.. The beach is really nice and a 10 min walk away - wich is ok. Don't expect a boardwalk or something, there is just hotels at the beach(es). The supermarkets are great, you will find there everything and the prices are ok! I wouldn't recommend the restaurants, in Anissaras 90% of the guest are in hotel complexes with All-incl. so no one is at the restaurants, I don't think that the quality can be that good, serving once a month a meal. Once we wanted some pizza for lunch, but at the beaches there is no snack-bar or so (just one small shop with water, coffe, ice) so we had to walk up the small hill , like 10 mins to a restaurant, they didnt even have a package for pizza (it was the one restaurant between the two supermarkets) , they were really willing to help and friendly, but the PAN-pizzas were like the worst pizza i ever ate, one was 6 euros and reallyreally small and a burnt crust (HELLOOO, DID U EVER MAKE A PIZZA IN YOUR LIFE?). absolutely not worth. getting some snacks, bread, nuts, crackers, fruits at the supermarkets is the way to go. The next town is Hersonissos (ca 45 min walk or 8 euro taxi) wich is a crowded party-location with a lot (and i mean a lot) of discos, pubs, bars.. If u want some party, don't go to Anissras, go to Hersonissos, it's cheap, a lot of young people and party. What to say? Anissaras is good for chilling the whole day at the pool or at the beach and that's it. If you want to go somewehere else u gotta take a taxi, the bus is far away. We didn't have a valid License to rent a car but if u have i would recommend to rent a car and visit nice places on Crete! (There is car rent services everywhere)

To 580 Euro per person for 2 weeks with half board, flight and transfer, in the peak season hardly something better to find. Especially friendly and tried the waiter manolis and the receptionist rula. Especially for young people, the not so are sensitive to noise and for little money much want to have fun, is galini very recommendable. A rental car is also because of the distance to the beach and other beaches on the island very convenient. read hotel review

To the beach 15 minutes walk, to Lidl 40 minutes. Internet doesn't: only in the lobby and with lower speed. Window from half rooms are after verkehrsallee oriented, where often buses, cars and motorcycles drive. Tourists from Russia are often too loud and reassured only after mittennacht. And around 5:50 morning come cleaning lady to hallway and windows... read hotel review
