Nice hotel but needs improvement!

This hotel can easily be seen from afar so you won't have to worry about being lost. If you choose to stay at the 10th floor, you will get a free use of a Google smart phone with unlimited data access and configurable as a pocket wi-fi. Bring it anywhere you go so you won't need to buy a local SIM card. If you were not booked to a 10th floor room, then sorry they won't lend you a smartphone. Someone ate from my colleague's chips while we were out and there was a piece of cut toe nail on ... the floor! The hotel was nice but their service still has a lot of room for improvement. The rooms were not as spacious as the other hotels I've been. The TV was not so great, it was only around 21" I think. Guests who stay here are mixed and mostly foreigners, caucasians and asians. Mostly 30's and above. Breakfast buffet was at 22$ + taxes and was not superb. I only saw Bacon, eggs, bread, dimsum, noodles, fruits, salad, rice, coffee, tea and juice. They don't give you free bottled water, they just say that the tap water is good for drinking. read hotel review

    4.0

Room for 2 was around 15 square meters including the bathroom with A/C, blowdryer, 21-inch LCD TV, Wifi, safe, Shampoo, Liquid soap, hot water kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, no toothbrush and toothpaste, no slippers, no minibar.

  • Sport & Leisure
    3.0

Unfortunately, the hotel does not have their own gym and pool. They have Internet access though. If you get a room with Extra Benefits, you can borrow one of their 4 bamboo bicycles for free for 8 hours.

  • Service
    4.0

A laundry service was available although I did not try it. Staff was friendly and could converse in English pretty well. There is an express-checkout counter where you can just drop off your key card to check out. Room cleaning was not so good. Aside from somebody eating from my colleagues can of chips, they sometimes did not clean the room very well, a cut toe nail was still on the floor and it wasn't even ours!

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

There are a lot of fast food restos, local food shops, and restaurants around the hotel. There were also a number of malls in the area including Sim Lim Store, Bugis+ mall, Bugis Junction, Burlington Square. Popular eating places like Burger King, Toastbox, BonChon, Ajisen Ramen, Food Junction can satisfy your hunger by just walking a few hundred meters.

  • Location
    5.0

Location was good. It is near the shopping centers of Orchard Road, about 15-20 mins walk. There were fast food places around and hawker-type street food. A 7-11 convenience store is just beside the hotel. Some temples were at the back of the hotel. MRT station (Bugis) was about 10-15 mins away if you walk.

This was my third stay at Ibis Bencoolen. I am now familiar with the area and its convenient and safe. An easy walk sees you at Clarke Quay, Raffles and the surrounding shopping centres of Orchard Road. Sometimes you can get a room rate of S$129 so value is excellent. read hotel review

Stayed there for nearly week without any problem. My room change request was immediately granted and it looked like I was upgraded to higher level room which included free of charge use of mobile phone with free 3G internet as well as free local and international calls (not to all countries, though) which one can take with him to the city as well. read hotel review

Hotel is relatively central, metro bugis about 10 minutes walk away. The same distance to the district Little India. The hop on hop off bus stops right in front of the hotel.

  • Room

Very small room, barely any shelf space. Bed still 2 meters wide, the air conditioner was a bit noisy but fully functional. Safe free and well functionally. Soluble coffee and dte with the water digester available.

Of us no complaints. Front desk was always well-attended, but still friendly and nice. Room cleaning was okay.

We had booked only breakfast, were pleasantly surprised. Certainly the premises or chairs from plastic and not cleared tables were not so great, but the actual breakfast was more than adequate and tasted us. Early (by half nine) secures still reasonable places.

Since we only had one night in are spent and our time more sightseeing as with relaxing wanted to spend, we opted for the ' budget ' Ibis decided, which us for the night with a late check-out ' only 200 Euro cost. For late check-out is a half daily rate applied and one could cool the room until 18 hours (we on demand until 19 hours) use. The rooms are Ibis - small but clean. The location next to a pedestrian area ideal. We are here to down to the singapoore flyer and have walked the walk back were ... made. I can only recommend it, because you get an insight in the city. Because of the location and the price i would recommend this hotel. read hotel review
