The hotel is located in a luxury villa in Opatija's most beautiful park alongside the Church of St. James and the famous Helios and Selene fountain by the Austrian sculptor Hans Rathausky. The villa was built in 1886 and is known as the long-time residence of the Viennese physician and scientist Julius Glax, who loved Opatija so much that he stayed here until the end of his life. The hotel has 26 spacious and comfortable Superior category rooms offering beautiful views of the surrounding area. The Cantinetta Sveti Jakov is situated in the pleasant ambience beneath the grand arcades. This is a unique type of restaurant in the region that is best described as a combination of Italian trattoria and wine bar. The restaurant offers top-quality dry-cured pršut ham, a selection of cheeses, freshly baked bread, fresh homemade pasta and daily fresh fish. These specialities are best accompanied by a glass of quality wine: our wine list includes more than 100 wines and sparkling wines from Croatia and abroad.
