Not a five star experience but enjoyable

Our villa was Luxury Overwater Villa 119, this villa is right at the end of the pontoon. From this Villa you can lay in bed with uninterrupted views of the lagoon and the Island of Tahiti, I would choose this Villa over any other. The luxury Overwater villas are larger and have lots of outside space for sunbathing with 2x Sun Loungers, I would avoid the standard Overwater Villas as they have very little outdoor space and most of this space is covered and in the shade, they also only have 1x Sun Lounger. Overall the Villas are very nice ... and clean and the bed is very comfy. You also have a very nice glass panel in the floor for looking at the fish. The only negative I have with the villas is that they are not sealed to the outside world. The louvred wooden windows have no glass and have gaps for insects to enter, however a mosquito net is provided over the bed. It is also very windy and exposed out in the lagoon so the wind howls and whistles through the gaps in the louvred windows. Do not, I repeat do not waste a single penny on the internet as it is frustratingly useless, it struggles to even open a web page. You can forget about sending pictures and you can definitely forget FaceTime. The only thing that it will cope with is email/iMessage. If you do spend any money on the internet then set the alarm between 1am and 5am, no one else will be using it at this time and you may get a page to load or be able to send a picture. The food was pretty poor, in our three nights we were offered two evening buffets and one meal off the menu. The buffet food was a worry as it was left out exposed and uncovered, we saw lots of tiny insects on the salad and fruit. Buffet Breakfast was from 06:30-10:30 so the food could be out uncovered for four hours. We were on the half board package and were forced to have the evening Buffet when others around us were offered menus. Service was summed up by having to go and get your own salt and pepper from other tables. Evening entertainment was provided during diner, this was local music with dancing. This was the highlight of the evening meal. For us this was a 3 night hop on our way to Bora Bora, this review was written whilst staying at the Sofitel so I have not compared it to any other hotel Overall apart from the food it was a pleasant stay, definitely not a five star experience but enjoyable. If you end up in a villa with an average view your experience may not be as enjoyable as ours. The location of our room made the experience. read hotel review

The hotel is located on a: beautiful beach (about 2 kilometer long) with a view of Tahiti, directly on a lagoon. The port about 4 kilometer away. The airport lies behind the next headland (circa 2 kilometer) and occasionally, depending on the wind, was a bit the air traffic audible.

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

The breakfast buffet is good and has both hot and cold food (cereals, jam, sausage, cheese, fish, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages, various coffee and breads, but for example no freshly squeezed juice). The selection is decent, variety, there was almost no. If it not included in the room rate is about 30 Euro per person. Dinner is served in the pure restaurant, sometimes buffet, otherwise a la carte. The quality of the buffets and the selection is good, the change moderate. Costs buffet: about 45-60 Euro per person. , on the menu we didn't eat there. In the bar vue there were snacks and smaller dishes from 10 hours until 21 hours. Happy hour (only for cocktails) from 18:30-7:30 p. m.. The k gourmet restaurant is located on the beach and has a pool. The quality of the food we cannot say anything, since we didn't use it.

We had a überwasserbungalow ; this is very spacious, equipped with a large king size bed, a seating area, with a small table, flat screen tv, bose sound system (cd/radio), safe, mini bar (filled, fee/mineral water 50 cl about €3,50 / Cola, Fanta, Sprite 33 cl about 4 Euro / local beer 33 cl about €5.50), with prior 2 times 0.5 liter of water free of charge, water digester, espresso machine (nespresso against fee, coffee and tea daily free of charge), bathroom with shower and separate toilet, hair dryer, bathrobe, slippers, iron, air conditioning, ceiling fan. The bungalow was with a situation on the ground, through the underwater world can be observed. On the terrace of the bungalows are 2 chairs and a table, as well as a sun bed (the chained is) and there is a direct access to the sea.

  • Service
    4.0

The check-in is unprofessional, stops with other hotels of the same category level (no welcome drink, no refresher pad (at 30°), no individual welcome, but summary quick reference in the lobby, no escort to the room (you have to room alone find). The stripped per room empties the bucket, covers the bed, adopted may be on the floor, the towels, but no new and settled the whole only between 20 and 21 hours. Internet: free wi-fi, the offered in the hotel, is very slow and most of the time you have to wait, until something is loaded. But one pays then circa 4 Euro for 1 hour. The internet terminals in the hotel with frz. Keyboard. Other hotels in this price range have this rip-off is not necessary and offer free wi-fi.

  • Sport & Leisure
    5.0

A pool of about 20 meters in length is part of the hotel, but it is not from the beach from accessible (only from the garden plant from) and 7-20 clock. Beach chairs for about 20 persons is ready, per 2 beach chairs there was 1 umbrella. A pool boy for the towel exchange and get cushions for the beach chairs was not always during the indicated times since. Sparkles he again by its absence, we appeal to the ladies in the bar vue, the happy to help. The activities center offers numerous possibilities: water sports, boat rental, bike rental (gg. Fee). On public relation, excursions and car rental booked. A spa is part of the area, but performance and prices are anywhere from, you need to right there on. Every day, there was a 45 minute show for dinner at 7:30 p. m.: a dance group (6 women, no men) displays traditional dances to music from the band. Very nice, but not quality.

The Sofitel mooerea is located on a very beautiful lagoon with wonderful opportunities for snorkelling and swimming. Because of the many corals on the beach but you should definitely shoes. The area is very spacious and spread over a huge area. The way to the front desk and the restaurant, depending on the location of the hotel surely times 200 metres, for physically limited guests could be a problem. The service is excellent, very friendly and attentive. Every evening there was a show to the dinner with regional dances and songs. The choice for breakfast was very good, always very ... fresh. The hotel was located very remote, so it to foot no alternative to the dinner is. We mainly ate in the hotel and found the food very delicious, although not very varied in the menu. With the car you could well be other restaurants start, we can on service and price avis recommend. Overall a very relaxing vacation in beautiful surroundings, we would definitely come again. read hotel review

(luxury-?) Hotel with significant weaknesses!

The Sofitel is not far from the ferry and airport on a beautiful white sandy beach. Both flight-, as well as schiffslärm are not noticeable. Unlike a incomprehensible comment a other writer is the beach very probably good to use, as there were hardly any corals and the sand very fine-grained is. You can also very good into the water without riffschuhe to use. We had a luxury beach bungalow booked. Here is worthwhile the (small ) extra charge, as the bungalow right at the waterfront and not 'just' in the 2. row with partial poor view of beach and ... water! The bungalow was well equipped, the nicest thing was the open garden shower. The last night we have in one of the superior over water bungalows. However we liked the strandvilla better, as you on this over water bungalows but right limited and actually no more than on the terrace or snorkeling can. The snorkeling however is an experience, as the over water bungalows of many corals and fish surrounded are. The extra charge for the one night was acceptable 85 Euro. Now to the less pleasant details the us the stay troubled and statement in the title led. As we very much both privately, as well as business travel every year some 5 star places to visit are the following negative things notice: Transfer: There is no from the airport from the port a shuttle to the hotel Check in: Receiving annoyed staff we should at 36 degrees our suitcase even the strandvilla bring, without knowing where this, in a new still unknown resort, is. We had to get itself a driver with golfkart organize. At the check-in there was, as in many pauschalurlaubhotels tokens or vouchers for two beach towels and two snorkel-always. So much for the trust of the hotel in its guests. The towels were not brought, but had to by the pool will pick you up. On the final day had to the towels again by the pool delivered. The exchange for the towels received vouchers, then had to whilst checking out be dropped. A terribly guest-unfriendly and above all cumbersome procedure, in a 5 sterne house differently, were to be handled. Restaurant: Because we booked half board had was breakfast and dinner with us, not however the beverages! Neither water nor other soft drinks. Only for breakfast were coffee and different juices in the price included in the price. Furthermore was in the main restaurant 'pure ' the food 'à la carte' not included, but only the dishes at the buffet (buffet only at the weekend, in the week menu with three appetizers and main courses). Came again fast the feeling a pauschalurlaubhotels on. In a good 5 stars hotel you should as a guest the choice, between map and buffet to decide, without an extra charge. Whereby it is to be marked, that the guests in a 5 star hotel for dinner not a buffet supplied should. In the 2. restaurant 'k 'was as entitiled' à la carte ' meal, however with unverschämtem extra charge, depending on appetizer (1.000 xpf per person), main dish (2,000 xpf per person) and dessert. This procedure we thought were for a 5 star house and unworthy. After a complaint with the restaurant manager solved the situation sovereign and satisfactory by giving us one evening in the restaurant 'k ' without an extra charge invited and we in the main restaurant 'pure ' also all remaining evenings 'à la carte' food. Also the stage in the middle of the restaurant area included colorful discolicht and loud (after a few nights annoying) shows reminded us of a pauschalurlaubshotel somewhere on Mallorca or Canary Islands. Definitely not fit such activities in an alleged 'luxury' hotel. Unfortunately there was, except for a few exceptions, hardly english-speaking restaurant staff the 'pure'. This is because, as was explained to us, that (despite low season) there much laboring and less permanent staff is busy. In the better restaurant 'k ' spoke the staff a good english. Which we liked was the always hard-working, friendly and professional sommelier of the hotel. The wine list was with an estimated 200 sorts of above average well stocked. Even at breakfast there were a few weaknesses. Unfortunately there was only paper and no cloth napkins, that dishes fit often not together, often missing the small coffee spoons. Unfortunately was the smoke permitted, so that we had during the meals often from neighboring tables above average were. Room: The beach villas were, except for a small something, wonderful. Because of the beautiful island we have the flatscreen tv hardly used but there was, until on cnn, excluding french transmitters. As part of the accor group is the Sofitel of course a french house, however you should in such an international holiday destination more than one international channels offer. The villas were near to the beach and were bright and friendly designed. The strength the wi-fi connection was good and the price with circa 5 American Dollar/hour bearable. Unfortunately there was just on the first day two complimentary bottles of water. Also on demand was the water not replenished, one had to the mini bar buy. This procedure is a 5 stars hotels, especially in such a hot area, unworthy. Check out: Furthermore we have the possibility the ' late -check out' used, this was at a reasonable price of circa 50 Euro offered. In short: Generally can be said, that we moorea found very nice. The southsea really want to discover, must definitely Aitutaki in the cook islands to visit. Who ' only ' Tahiti and moorea saw, the original and true flair of the south seas missed. Moorea and Tahiti are now much too touristy for a unforgettable südseeaufenthalt. Real südseegenuss you can for example on Aitutaki enjoy. The best with a private lagoon and snorkeling tour. Stay in the Aitutaki pacific resort, a true luxury hotel the ' small leading hotels of the world ' group. read hotel review
